2011 is the greatest of all time

2011 is best by a long shot.
Best players from 2003 and 2007 combined don't beat them.
2001 is the equivalent of today's east champ. Great they were the first to win a conf title in a long time, but that team wasn't very good.

2011 would completely humiliate 2007 and 1958. They would merely embarrass 2003.

I find a lot flawed with this article.
I wouldn't have picked this as a memorable game. I would have picked LSU's 17–10 victory over UGA.

Memorable game: LSU’s season teetered on the brink when it traveled to play Ole Miss in Week 11. The Rebels, ranked No. 15, could have clinched the SEC West with a win. Instead, LSU beat up on quarterback Eli Manning and held off a fourth-quarter rally for a 17-14 win.

This could be true

This is ridiculous. They'd beat them by 30 points.

At the end of the year they were almost unbeatable.
I like the list. Truly, 2011 was a magnificent team, but I don't object to them being rated behind teams which won it all.

the UGA game was our flag pole game

I had to edit your post...you copy and pasted entirely too much of the article.

You must think that 2011 Bama is the greatest college football team of all time. That's a crappy way to live.

They are certainly top 10 and top 3 defensively.
ETA: Sorry you don't like it. The talent on the 2007 team isn't even comparable to the 2011 squad. The 2003 team had a lot of talent, but nowhere near the depth of the 2011 squad.

The numbers don't lie.
However, had they only finished, I'd be in total agreement. That 2003 team, in spite of the loss to UF, was really something special.

JJ or Jarrett Lee wouldn't be able to accomplish anything offensively vs the 2003 D. See 1/9/12 for an example of what that would look like.

While that was not an elite defense, that was arguably one of the most talented teams in school history with playmakers at almost every skill position on offense.

I'm not saying that 2011 wasn't a great team for us. However, you are forgetting how good our talent was in 07, and especially 03. Our defense in 03 was just as good as 11 and the offense of 07 was light years ahead of 11 (I am talking about offense only, not defensive td's and special teams tds. I know what the stats say.) Go look at the pros and all americans that came off of our 03 and 07 teams.

'11 defense could handle this.
With undersized defensive ends they would have struggled against the massive offensive line.
Also, one of the few weaknesses of the 2011 team, the linebacking corps, would have been challenged in stopping the short and intermediate passing routes.
Addai and Hester were great out of the backfield, Dickson is one of the most successful pass-catching tight ends in school history, and Doucet and Green would have killed them underneath.
