Has anybody here done a "Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead" long-term juice cleanse ?

And what is the OT over/under on how long will it take me to die? Heart attack day three? Dehydration on day eleven?
I'm thinking about an initial juice-only 20 day cleanse and working a ten day cleanse into my life (10 days every 90 days). Seems like periodic cleanses might be beneficial, especially when you are old as hell. I like The Zen of it.

I think that juicing has inherent value, but this sounds more like binging to me
I think you will crave solid foods much more quickly than you think.

No, but that Breville from the movie is awesome and I use it a lot. You will get piled on here for doing something gimmicky, but I don't see a lot of downside to giving it a shot. The only argument I see against the juicing is, are you really just taking away a lot of the value of the fruits and veggies by removing the fiber? Of course, the point of it is that you get the nutrients without the volume.
Movie is free on Hulu.

Husband did. Doctor ok'd with the addition of protein powder.
For a few years I did juice for breakfast. It's very cool. You have a ton of energy and feel great. Recommend.
Fwiw. Throw in a green apple or lemon or grapes and you can make anything taste good.
Cons. Expensive, lots of trips to the fruit stand, hard to bring for lunch.
Eta. Used the fiber in the dogs food every day. He loved it.

I don't do the juice-only, but I do juice a lot at night. I'm a breakfast and lunch eater, but usually like something lite for dinner so juicing is great, especially during the summer.

But isn't the fiber good for you?
I'm all for adding more vegs. to one's diet, but this seems like you're adding a shite ton of sugar to your diet.

I've juiced for years so I'm used to it. Not sure I could do juice only for more than three days. In fact I'll probably fail. But I have always loved the way juicing has made me feel. It's not like I can't grab a chicken breast or a bag of almonds If I'm struggling.
That is a really cool, inspiring movie by the way.

Exercise more and eat and drink what you want.

Idk. I would sometimes put in pancakes or spaghetti sauce. Or in the garden.
I lost weight quick. Husband too. I don't think sugar is an issue. It makes you feel amazing. No bloating like carbs usually give you.

Not if you are doing mainly green leafy vegetables. As far as the fiber try to eat or even vitamix the amount of vegetables that would go into a large serving of juice. You can get plenty of fiber from the rest of your diet.

Or you could eat healthy and exercise.

Cleansing rituals are a hack on most accounts, often doing more harm than good.
Positive results are often a psychosomatic response.

I would juice for breakfast and then do HIIT. When I didn't juice I would run out of steam halfway through. Juicing def improved my workouts.

I had my first colonoscopy last month so I'm good

Juicing leads to a lot of waste. Spend the extra money and get a Vitamix.

OK, but I'm still not drinkin' healthy.

Yes, i did 7 days. I wasnt on the brink of insanity and you become conditioned to it after about day three, but a week of the necessities ran well over $150

I have a really bad back. I've been limited to walking for three years which I do religiously-on average 6 miles a day, five days a week. I always try for 30 miles a week which is the maximum my back seems to tolerate. I walked 14 miles on the Beach on Sunday and could hardly move on Monday. It's a lot different in your late 40's than when you are 35 for most people. When I was in my 20's I rode my bike across South Korea, did Ride The Rockies in 97 LINK and hiked/climbed a half dozen 14ers, so I know how to exercise. Moral of the story-protect your back. Too much trail-running killed mine.

You do more exercise than most people posting on this board (including me).
IKWYM, at 53, staying in shape is a little more challenging than at 33.
