I've been following the Anderson hate around here, and in the games I've been to, I just don't get it. Last night I really watched Anderson closely all night, and I still don't get it. He did get off to a slow start shooting, but he got hot pretty quickly and was crucial to keeping us in the game. When he was guarding Bogut one on one, the dude was working his arse off and you could see it in his face. He did have two bad plays late in the 4th, but right before that he hit back to back baskets that, again, were crucial. From what I've seen in person, he isn't even a guy I'd consider ditching - unless you're talking about a serious upgrade at the position in some blockbuster trade.
It seems like there's also a lot of Cole love and Reke hate, and of course I understand hero ball complex with Reke. But Reke sure can drive to the basket. Cole looks like a boy amongst men when he sees the paint. He just looks afraid in the lane and can't retreat quickly enough - unless he stays to miss a 10 ft. jumper, of course.
ETA: While I'm defending Anderson's effort, in the 4th when Asik was on the bench it seems like every Warriors basket was either a layup or a dunk. Though it looked like when Anderson was in he was playing more man on Bogut rather than patroling the paint.

What's not to get? He is unbelievably bad at defense. It's an incredible liability. He's 467th out of 472 players in defensive real plus minus. Last year, he was 70th out of 75 power forwards. They guys behind him played around 20 minutes a game or so. He played 36. You just can't have somebody that bad on defense on the court in the NBA for that many minutes and expect your defense to not totally suck.

Defense is equally as important as offense. He's not a below average defensive player like a lot of people seem to think. He is one of the worst, if not the worst, defender in the league. Certainly the worst playing meaningful minutes on a competitive team. It's just too hard to have our offensive efficiency high enough to make up for the points he inevitably bleeds, even with the nice spacing he provides.

Reke plays in binary. He may show up and look like first team All-NBA one night, then come back and leave you thinking Jimmer might be a better option the next. He's certainly gotten more consistent lately. That said, when we are up late and the foul game starts, he should not touch the ball. I just don't trust him at the line when it matters.

He always works his arse off (unless that work involves rebounding out of his area). The problem is he's often overmatched in the role he's slotted into at backup center. Did you watch the Blazers game? Kaman was making him look silly, he just couldn't hold his ground. In past years his offense has been enough to offset his defense, but his offense hasn't been good this year, especially on the road. Hopefully he'll get right in the offseason and be a net positive again next year.

Reke hate

If Holiday was healthy and Tyreke was the 6th man and allowed to dominate 2nd units rather than being forced to be one of the most inefficient players in the league in clutch time, that hate would turn to love. Tyrke has a lot of positives, but he has a lot of negatives too and those are hard to minimize with the role he's been asked to take on.

Cole's strength is actually his midrange game, he's shooting 48% from 10-16 feet, 53% from the midrange and 38% from 3. He really is like a mini Jrue. You're not really complaining about people liking Cole compared to Rivers/Jimmer are you?

He shot 5/15 and had a few wide open 3s he missed in the 4th. He also had a crucial TO at the end of the game. Sorry but he was dog shite last night on offense.
