Its so wide open at 13 its crazy. Ive seen mocks with us drafting every position under the sun. Usually its down to a couple people we could draft, but this year is totally different. The good thing is there's a lot of talent for us to take at #13, #31 & #44. We should end up with 3 starters with those picks. Here's an article that Larry Holder just posted on NOLA.com about it and I thought I would share...

The New Orleans Saints went on a tear of personnel moves in March, including adding a second first-round pick at No. 31 overall from Seattle in the Jimmy Graham trade along with Pro Bowl center Max Unger.

New Orleans also added players like cornerback Brandon Browner and running back C.J. Spiller making those two positions not as crucial to draft early in the NFL draft. The Saints also added former first-round cornerback Kyle Wilson and extended guard Jahri Evans one more season at a reduced rate.

Each week leading up to the draft I'll post a slew of mock drafts from around the Internet. The names have already changed throughout the last couple of months once the Saints make moves in free agency this offseason.

Here's a look at what draft gurus are thinking for the Saints at No. 13 and No. 31:

quote:

- Despite signing Browner and Wilson, CBS Sports' Rob Rang predicts the Saints will draft Michigan State cornerback Trae Waynes at No. 13. Then the Saints go wide receiver at No. 31.

quote:

- CBS Sports' Dane Brugler goes another route with the Saints nabbing Oregon defensive lineman Arik Armstead with their first pick. New Orleans takes an edge defender at No. 31.

quote:

- The Saints could grab Louisville wide receiver DeVante Parker at No. 13 overall, writes SB Nation's Dan Kadar. New Orleans looks for an edge defender at No. 31, but not the same one in the previous mock draft.
(Worth pointing out that Dan Kadar has the 2nd highest average of correct mock picks over the last 5 years)

quote:

- Kentucky edge defender Bud Dupree will land in New Orleans at No. 13, according to Bleacher Report's Matt Miller. Then the Saints take an LSU player at No. 31.

quote:

- MMQB.com's Peter King slates Nebraska edge defender Randy Gregory to the Saints with their first pick, and they trade No. 31 overall to Chicago for picks No. 39, No. 106 and No. 192.

quote:

- SportsNOLA.com's Mike Detillier has the Saints landing LSU tackle La'el Collins, then turning around and getting their edge rusher at 31 with Eli Harold out of Virgina.

I honestly think its going to be really hard to go wrong with our first 3 picks. Lots of stars waiting to happen in this years first 2 rounds.

There's alot of uncertainy this year in the draft. For instance, i see Collins mocked in the top ten, then the next mock he's in the last few picks of the first round. The same goes for Gregory, Shelton, Waynes, the receivers, pretty much everyone but Winston and Williams.

Its going to be a fun draft with many twists, thats for sure.

I've successfully predicted our 1st round pick the last 2 years. I'm not counting on making it 3.

If there is one thing I am fairly certain about is that the Saints will surprise us with the first pick. Outside of an unexpected gem dropping to us I think we will pick someone that has not been spoken about at length, if at all, by our management team. We are good about dropping a fake bread crumb trail.

It's going to be a crazy draft. Plus, correct me if I'm wrong, but Vacarro wasn't really on our radar when he went first right? I think I'm remembering that correctly. So even though we all feel like we know the probable top ten Saints wants/needs right now, at the end of the day they could easily draft a guy we aren't even talking about.

Parker is the leader in my clubhouse as far as who i think we may take.

Waynes is right there, too.

Stuff like this is why you're so respected bleacher report.
"They'll take Dupree and then just any LSU player "

Really think if Lael is there, they scoop him up. Not a flashy pick but it really solidifies the future of our OL.

I would want to grab Collins because of his versatility to play T/G. WR is something we can use on a much later round pick. Drew makes the WR so I'm not worried about it.

I'm really not feeling Bud Dupree. Just have a hard time getting into the guys who have "all the athleticism but no production." It's dangerous IMO.

I like Waynes but I would rather spend our first on an immediate starter.

I would prefer a WR with our first if possible. One of the top 3 if they're there. Lots of people say we shouldn't take a WR 1st round back to back but we just traded away our top weapon. We need another.

I honestly like Lelito at LG and I think we're safe at CB for at least one season. Puts WR and (M)LB at the top of the list. There are no MLB's worthy of our pick. It has to be a WR.

I think Bud Dupree will be our first selection if he's there. I think he will go higher than projected especially with the Gregory character issues.

Yea it's wide open... Mainy because we have a need at just about every position out there except for a few. Taking an OL, WR, CB, Edge player / LB, and DT all are possible at 13. And we have a big need at all of those positions.

We also have the luxury of having a lot of picks and could be extremely active on draft day as well, or at least bluff like we are and all that. Should be an exciting draft for us.
