Gallon chemical jug with big cap/pour hole.
24" of trotline with loops tied on both ends.
Loop one end around the handle and pull the tail through.
Tie 1/4 ounce bell sinker 4 inches above bottom loop using a simple over hand knot.
Using the bottom loop thread through the eye of the hook and up the backside for double line through the eye. I prefer 5/0 red heavy wire circle hooks.
I prefer to bait with fresh cut shad, but we've used live bream and earthworms with success as well.
The loops on both ends allow you to switch hooks, or switch out the whole rig on the jugs quickly. Store everything inside the jug with the cap back on it for organizational purposes. That's why you need the jug with the big cap.
Last step... post up like a boss on facebook.
Those are all jug caught blue cats.

We have ones like you are describing.
For the inside weight we use sand to save on cost. Best thing since sliced bread IMO

I was thinking that or pea gravel. I have never made "fancy" ones. only two liter bottles and prestone bottles.

I do a lot of jug fishing in the bar pits around the camp. What I hate is the assholes who leave their shite and never come back to get them. I've seen the same shitty bottles and noodles in one of the pits for the last year.

For jug lines, I take a piece of PVC 3/4" piping, two end caps, a screw in eye hook, a 6" piece of that pool noodle stuff with a hole thru the center and a piece of 3/8"x 4" rebar.
Drill a hole thru the center of one cap, screw in the eye hook and put a little silicon. Glue cap to pipe, drop the piece of rebar in, slide the piece of noodle on and then glue the other end cap on.
I can put 100' of line on one float. I put a 2lb lead weight at the bottom and as I deploy the line, I use clip drop lines to put on the main line. If I'm fishing deep waters, say 50', I can put as many as 15 hooks on per float.
Once the weight is on the bottom, tight line it to the point the you can till the float to were the rebar slips to the top and the float will lay on it's side.
Once you hook up, the fish will pull the float under and once it pops up, the rebar slides down and the top will float straight up. You know you have a fish on.

Does anybody know if the noodles have to be a certain color in La., and are you supposed to have your name and number, somewhere on the noodle??
Posted on 4/8/15 at 8:57 pm to Ole Geauxt
I don't know. Maybe on some lakes, but not statewide like Texas.

I have a box full at the camp probably about 30 jugs. The jugs are numbered 1-30 for gambling purposes

Just a noodle. 20ft string on one side with a nut for a weight. 2ft on the other side with a swivel and hook. Reflector tape is a must on these things they seem to swim away.
