The Wrath of Kahn really scared the shite out of me when I was a little kid. The scariest thing I could have conceived at that age didn't compare with the idea that a bug would crawl into my brain and control my body.
To make it worse I asked my older cousin if the stuff in that movie would come true and she replied yes thinking I meant all the space travel shite. I was more worried about the ear bugs.

Winner. I saw that movie when I was 7. I was staying at my aunt and uncle's house when I saw it. I was supposed to be sleeping but snuck half way down the stairs and watched it. Worst mistake of my life.

Poltergeist, the scene where the clown doll grabs to kid from under the bed. I was somewhere around 6-8 years old when I watched it over at a friend's house on cable. I had this creepy arse clown painting that hung next to my bed, but I never noticed how freaky that painting was until I saw that scene. The messed up thing was that my mom refused to take the painting down. That screwed with me for a little while.

The Dark Crystal, those buzzard things freaked me out! Also Nightmare on Elm St. had me sleeping with a rosary for a while.

I still check behind the curtain for murderers.

Orca. I was 8 and was certain a killer whale was able to stealthily plow through earth and was hiding under my bed each night.

Skeksis were nasty creatures. Try watching that shite after dropping acid.
The first movie I can remember scaring the ever loving shite out of little crispy was probably Silence of the Lambs. Not so much "scary", but my young mind was pretty thoroughly abused by watching that thing. My parents rented it when it had just come out on VHS and were watching it at our cabin after all the kids were supposed to be asleep upstairs. I managed to sneak into the loft and look down at the TV. I ended up watching most of it with my hand over mouth so as to not make a sound and get in trouble. Didn't sleep much that night, to say the least.
IT also did a number on me, as my oldest sister thought it would be great to scare the frick out of her little brother. Still hate clowns.
I watched The Exorcist for the first time when I was about 12. Really freaked me the frick out because, even though I grew up as a member of The Frozen Chosen, my parents sent me to Baptist private school and the bible teacher that was hired was an Evangelical who believe that spiritual warfare was constantly occurring all around us and just tried to scare the living shite out of us on a daily basis. So, the Exorcist definitely hit home.
