You can't teach size, and with one big target out the door, it would be awesome for him to step up.
He's the prototypical type receiver to run those seam routes we've seen Colston & Graham get big plays out of over the years from the slot position. It takes big balls to run those routes because as a receiver you will get popped more times then not. Coleman definitely has the size to pull it off though.

And with Graham's history of injury the last few years and the alligator arming occasionally, you start thinking the Saints FO realized this more and more.

I never thought about that. That's a good point.

It's not a good idea to use a #1 pick on player with positive drug test issues. Maybe #2 if you have two #1 picks.
How far will Gregory drop? Out of 1st?

Got a feeling he will still be top 15... Made a retarded move but he owned up to everything so that earned him brownie points

He's still going to go top 10

I have a feeling the Saints would take Gregory at #13
Dupree, Beasley or Gregory?
Who would you choose?

So if White is there would you take him?
White or Parker
I don't know if Payton can wait until later in the draft to get an elite target for Drew.

I would sell my Saints yard gnomes if that were not true.

Even though I'm sure this is a joke, I really do have a Saints yard gnome.

I don't know if I'd want Gregory at 13. Pre-failed test, hell yeah! Post it's kind of murky water. If he stays clean you just got a top 5 talent in the teens. That's a big if tho, as he's proven more than once he doesn't have the self control. Hopefully he gets that soon tho.
What I would love to do, if we don't take him or any other EDGE at 13, is if he starts to slide into the late teens, early 20s, trade up from 31 to get him.

given the time to develop, he could be a star.
Time and money are the two things we don't have. We need big bodies on the OL and a LB who can stay in a passing play without getting a case of whiplash.

With the Saints having very a small cap space in fact need some more to sign the draft picks. So they have to hit on the first 5 picks,so dot not pick him there are other good players to pick from without the dirty laundry.

right, and here lies the problem with most of the OLB's at the top of the draft: they are pass rushers only. The only ones that seem to be able to play the run and pass cover are Gregory and Dupree. As much as I would like more pass rushers on this team, I don't want another Gallett at 13 or anywhere in the first. Gregory and Dupree are the only two I would take, but this failed test is a concern. I agree that later in the first round it's a worthwhile risk, but it's tough to pull the trigger at 13. I'm not opposed to it, but I am uncomfortable with it.

As for White, his talent level is too high to pass him up. We do have time at the WR position to develop a player. Who knows when we will have the opportunity to grab someone like this again. To miss out on a Terell Owens without the baggage only because you don't want to take a player that may need a year or two to reach his potential is folly. Yes we want our draft picks to provide immediate impact, but the future should not be compromised for immediate gratification. Plus there's nothing indicating he won't provide this year.
If a Gregory or some other player is on the board along with White, and those players are rated to have the same elite ceiling as him, then take the one that fits the scheme and team the most. I am fine with that. I am not a scout and can only go by the things I have been reading. This is why I don't usually get pissed at our picks and give a wait and see approach before judging

While I would love Beasley, and would absolutely still take him at 13, it's hard to disagree with this. I know the team thought about cutting Galette, and tried to trade him, but if he's here to stay, Dupree would make the most sense to play SOLB, Haralson's current role. It will never happen, but Beasley at 13, use a 3rd to trade up in the 1st to grab Dupree, and use #44 to grab one of Dawson/Anthony/Perryman would be a great overhaul of our LB group.
