Method 1) Women love to feel important to your work...whatever it is. Tell them you are swamped with this project and need their help to do research on methods, or the best procedures to accomplish whatever.
Method 2) They like to believe they are design gurus. Tell her to go out and determine an appropriate color scheme for a coherent room to room layout.
Method 3) Ask for a sammich

Get the chores done before she gets home.

I can agree with this 100%. As a home builder, my SO loves when I let her pick out materials and colors for my spec homes. I don't like doing it and she loves it.

If there's anything I've learned in my 8 years of marriage it's this: choose your battles. If it's something that really important to you and the well being of your family, it's worth arguing about. If your wife can't set foot in Target without spending $200, it's worth fighting about.
If it's something that only a woman would decide to be upset about at 4:58pm on a Tuesday, then just let it go. If your wife doesn't like the way you fold your washcloths, just let it go. Chances are she'll stop being mad about it in a few mins and you can go about your day without getting upset.
