Have to move there for work for awhile starting in April. The facility is on Bayou Blue, this isnt a permanent move, prob about a year. Any recommendations on which and where? In late 20s.

I hope they are paying you a ton of money. Prayers sent.

Raceland, 45 min from Nola, 20 min from thib and Houma. 15 min from your work location.

Im from thib and still live there. I work on the SW side of houma so i take the back roads through bayou black to avoid the traffic.

Everything said so far is pretty spot on in regards to trashy, stores/restaurants, bars/women and living accommodations. Thib will have a better crowd for you and better bars. Most outsiders refuse to live here but love to visit. Thib will have fewer apartments but finding a rent house will likely be cheaper and in a better neighborhood for the price. Houma will have worse traffic. Houma has more stores (academy target....) but i just get all of that during my lunch break.

Id agree, 24 to bayou blue road is the best route for you. hwy 182 can get backed up from time to time going in and out of houma but you should be good. a few guys i work with drive from nola and even mandeville and refuse to live down here.

Hold the frick up Houma Haters. As far as crime Houma may have more because its bigger but Thibodaux beats Houma hands down in the quality department. Houma has its shootings in the hood but Thibodaux has beheadings and child rape in Burger King bathrooms. Thibodaux crime is heinous to say the least.

Nightlife:

Thibodaux has three college bars......dats it.
Houma has a few restaurant bars and one bar almost considered a club.

Food

Houma has tons of shitty food and two nice places to eat.
Thibodaux has less but most is shitty as well EXCEPT Fremin's, that the best place to eat within 70 miles.

Thibodaux. Also, whoever said Flanagans is the best place within 70 miles give me a break. The best kept secret in Thib is Grady V's in the Country Club.

Amazed that some people are getting up in arms over this conversation. I've lived in Thibodaux all my life and find it a nice quiet place to live. Houma has more shopping so I'll go there on weekends. Lots of restaurant options at both. If I had to pick one I'd pick Thibodaux, just my opinion.. not downing Houma.

I was transferred to the Houma/Thibodaux area back in 2012 and hate it here. Basically if you don't hunt or fish then you don't belong here. Be ready for uneducated people that constantly talk about their jacked up trucks and mud riding.

Benefits of Thibodaux is less traffic and Nicholls is right around the corner from where I live.

Houma traffic can be a nightmare at times but still not as bad as NOLA or BR. Houma definitely has more food options but other than that not much else.

I really enjoyed Thibodaux, of course I lived near campus and was able to go and run everyday and I was able to do anything I wanted. It sucked going out most of the time because the adult bars suck but that is it.

Houma is greater that Thibodeaux. Thibodeaux people even manage to frick up Pedro games.
