re: If you had to get rid of 1 player: Gordon, Holiday, or Evans, who would it be?

Evans.

Holiday is a close second because:

a) injury history and
b) point guards are easier to replace than sgs right now. But I still put tyreke over Holiday because he just isn't as smart with the ball as holiday or Gordon. Plus he can't shoot

Agreed, and Reke is probably the most tradable asset not named Anthony Davis that they have anyway.

Nerlens also has the luxury of playing in the east. He doesn't have to deal with M Gasol/Aldridge/Howard/Cousins etc 3-4 times a year.

Luxury? There are better centers in the east. And Aldridge isn't a center

Bosh
BroLo
Vucevic
Noah
Gortat
Al Jeff
Horford
Drummond
Valanciunas

I'd be unhappy with Payton though. I have a thing against players that can't shoot and are horrible ft shooters though.

I think this team has been better with a pass first, defensive minded PG in Norris Cole than it was with Holiday shooting 15 times a game

Jason Kidd and Rondo were pillars on great teams and they couldn't shoot for shite.

Oh I agree wholeheartedly that Kidd and Rondo can't shoot and pass first is nice. I'd differ on the Cole > Holiday because he's just not as good of a ball handler as Holiday.

Issue is, Payton shoots sub 35% from everywhere past 3ft.

Payton is starting to realize his limitations at least. He's shot 45%, 42%, and 46% the last three months after going 40% the first two months. I remember rondo has the same type of learning curve coming into the league before he discovered his "game"

He really is learning his limits. While also, slightly improving his shot. But he'll never be a above average shooter.

I'd obviously love having Payton on this team. But homerism aside, he just makes some beautiful passes and can really finish at the rim. Him passing to Davis would be fun as hell to watch

This. Not being able to shoot doesn't have to be a big problem if you have a high BBall IQ.

Rondo and Kidd are two of the smartest PG's to play the game.

Tyreke is not. And Payton is yet to be determined but i like what I've seen of him so far.

On a different note

I personally would get rid of Gordon and still bring reke off the bench and fill the 2 spot with a Danny green/3point specialist (which is essentially Gordon's role now) and pair that with a legit starting SF. Who fills that role is another discussion haha

I am still a big fan of reke being a super sub and abusing the shite out of the Isaiah Thomas's and Jarrett jacks of the league. Also, give me 5 NBA teams with a paint protecting bench big, reke won't need to shoot

I could go with you on that with replacing EG with a 3&D SF. Only issue is, they cost the same as EG so you won't be getting a Danny Green as well.

Then you went and said this and I can't agree with you

He's a super sub, but that super sub is going to derp it up if he's in the last 2 minutes of the game. Ask yourself this. One of these 3: Arron Afflalo, Wesley Matthews, Wilson Chandler or Tyreke?

He struggled against a lot of those guys and played against just OK bigs lately. I would have serious doubts about him holding up out here in the west(hell look at AD these days and he's more physically developed)

I wouldn't call cole pass first at all. Jrue is a much better ball handler and if anything didn't look for his offense enough and differed.

Yeah the money would be tricky but i was more just putting out the idea, didn't really think of the logistics

I think the best bet is probably just to keep the team as is right now and just add a MLE sf and see what that brings. If it doesn't look great, we have two expirings in Ryno and Gordon that will be valuable going into the free agent frenzy of 2016 and I think that's where we make our move, not 2016 free angency, but the trade deadline market before it.

Teams will be desperate and we can unload those contracts and possibly snag a SF from a team going for KD thinking they won't need him anymore

Yeah the problem here is that monty plays reke in the last two minutes. He's gotta know his personnel.

And if we're talking about a guy running a bench unit, I take reke out of all those. As a starter, I take all those over reke. He is the best passer out of all of them and his ability to play the 1-3 makes him invaluable as a replacement starter when injuries happen.
