quote:personal preference but I like turnover ratio better. it measures the percentage of a players possessions that end in a turnover. I believe that is more informative than assist/turnover ratio.
His assist:TO ratio is 1.95, 53rd in the NBA. Currys is 2.6 and 26th in the NBA.
curry - 10.6
westbrook - 11.3
harden - 12
quote:oh don't get me wrong i'm not saying Russell isn't and hasn't been a TO machine. just saying it's not as bad this year as people are making it out to be given how much he handles the ball. that's why I believe turnover ratio is a more credible stat because it takes that into account.
And let's not act like the only reason he's turnig the ball over a lot is because of his usage rate this year. He's consistently been near the top of the NBA in turnovers. And there's nothing misleading by saying he leads the league in turnovers...

He may not win it because people are dumb....but he is undoubtedly the most valuable player to his team this year
I still think Harden deserves the award not only because his team has a better record, but because he's played about 15 games more than Westbrook, and he has been equally as valuable to the Rockets considering Dwight Howard has missed about 30 games this season. I know Kevin Durant has missed a ton...but that goes back to the record comparison.

Who has been more valuable?
Curry is the only answer
Curry has had Klay Thompson who happened to be an All-Star btw on his team. Rockets didn't have any All-stars besides Harden. Klay Thompson has missed 4 games this year.
In the 4 games Thompson missed....
@ Phoenix Loss
@. Denver Loss
vs. Atlanta Win
vs. New Orleans Win

It'll be Harden or Curry as it should be.
Westbrook has been great, but
A) will be the 8th seed or miss playoffs, while Houston and GS have been at the top
B) deceiving stats. Yea, a triple double but on 33% shooting. He's not as efficient as his PER states.
C) Davis deserves to be mentioned just as much as Westbrook and it's bullshite that he isn't. His season has been as impressive as anyone, if not more so.

If your are going to say "which team would have won less games if this dude wasnt here?" Its westbrook.
Harden has an "estimated wins added" of 19.9 this season, which is the highest in the league.
So yeah, he literally has added the most wins to his team this season. Yes, Westbrook has missed games, and that affects that statistic. However, being on the floor is a credential for MVP consideration, IMO.
As of now, I would vote Harden or Curry. Westbrook 3rd.

The Thunder have eclipsed 100 points in 22 consecutive games.
That is literally insane to me. Even the Warriors have scored under 100 points five times since the Thunder last have.
Obviously, I'm sure in the late '70s and early '80s, teams used to go entire seasons without scoring under 100 points. But in this day of basketball, 22 seems like a lot to me.

his turnovers aren't that bad as pointed out earlier in the thread, he's distributing and rebounding the ball well however he's taking too many shots and not making many and more importantly he missed way too may games.

Lol no. James harden is playing elite AND carrying his team to a top 3 seed while missing an all star player.
Westbrook is missing an all star player and is the 8th seed and might miss the playoffs. If Westbrook was carrying his team to a high seeding it would be different.him missing like 15+ games doesn't help his case either. I think he has zero shot at winning it. Will get some votes though

We still have over a dozen games to go, but I'd be fine with Harden, Curry, or Westbrook. They're all deserving. As a Warriors fan, I'd give it to Curry, but if Harden or Westbrook get it, that's fine. What an awesome season we've witnessed.

There's a difference between "are" and "or" :)

According to the Rockets fans on this board it's Harden's unless he like gets indicted for murder or something.
