sunshine was kind of a mixture of a bunch of other movies. danny boyle was really big on doing homage films at that point in his career

that movie was HEAVILY influenced by event horizon

I actually really like Sunshine, even the 3rd act

Boyhood is actually a good example. When I saw it, I liked it. But on rewatch and after thinking about it, I can't help but hate the main character and the movie overall just feels gimmicky now

Well that much has always been clear. So clear that they almost ripped it off scene by scene in some places.

Same here. I do think it could've been one of the GOATs had it finished stronger though.

Timeline. Was never going to be profound cinema, but it was based on a Chricton book that was pretty good with a cool premise, and shot for almost nothing with a shite cast. When Paul Walker is the lead, you know you're in for a turdfest.
