Pick apart? Really???
Tell me... why would the Neil Patrick Harris character take the time to clean up the kitchen floor... and then, why would he do that but leave the coffee table, etc., in shambles?
Then, why would he take the diary to Nick's father's house? Does he even KNOW Nick's father? Did he take the time inside Mrs. Dunne's house after he abducted her and cleaned the kitchen floor to ask her if she had a diary that would incriminate her husband? Did he read it? Did he then devise a plan on the fly to plant the diary at Nick's father's house? If he wanted to frame Nick for a murder, why not just leave the diary untouched inside their house?

I'm not going to spend much time speaking to you, but I will answer a couple of these.
quote:This is where you expect a real crime drama. You won't find it here. This movie is not for everyone.

quote:Also if you're talking about why everyone buys her story at the end, you have to buy into the fact that she had the public appearance of America's sweetheart who fought her way from the depths of hell. No I agree this would not happen IRL, but I enjoyed the rollercoaster of a story. You didn't, that's cool man.

As with Birdman I felt sucker punched by the ending, which rendered the entire previous part of the movie illegitimate.

Thought that was obvious. The plan was to frame Affleck. So they wanted a scenario where it looks like he can play off a simple abduction. meanwhile he killed her

Movies have to be good in order for me to proclaim them good.
That's a pretentious thing to say IMO. You say this as if a movie being good/bad is a black and white issue. Its not. You are obviously not an expert and don't provide any real substance to back up your claims. What you said about Boyhood was one of the dumbest things I've read on this board in some time. You are just coming here to post BS to get a rise out of people, don't pretend to be an expert and proclaim the critics and movie watching world have it all wrong. Get over yourself and watch more movies.

I enjoyed it, but man I read some thoughts on here afterwards and can't believe how much some people have hyped it up. It's practically a high-quality Lifetime movie.
Rosamund was fantastic, and I did not see the twist coming. But the last 20 minutes or so are just absurd

:kige:
It's like it wanted to be a satire but it wasn't funny enough for that. It had no likable characterS. Not one.

What I said about Boyhood is what every other of its detractors has said... the gimmick was not enough to carry a long movie without a compelling plot.

You mean, as in not listing some of the plot holes as I did here? Or not explaining why Boyhood and Birdman lacked appeal, as I did then?
Here's a tip for YOU: you didn't write, direct, produce, or star in any of those movies. You really have no excuse to be butt-hurt by somebody else's opinions of them.

For once, you're right.
Plot holes so big you could fly a 747 through em. Relies on characters being stupid to advance the plot

What "gimmick"? Explain. Whatever it is, it worked. Boyhood was an excellent movie IMO, with groundbreaking direction, really solid acting AND it was compelling even though it was just about nuances of life. It was a very difficult movie to make, one that very few directors could.

Thanks for the non-tip. I'm not butthurt, I just think your a shitty poster on this board lately. And you are not giving your opinions, you are just trashing high profile movies and saying stupid shite to get a rise out of people while pretending have an understanding of these movies enough to be able to critique them. You don't, you clearly don't get Boyhood. Here is what you said:
quote:
Don't we all have enough boring people in our OWN lives to care about? What was the point of this non-movie? Nothing remarkable happens, which means YOU might as well invite me over to your house to watch your old home movies.
You missing the point and the fact that nothing wild or sexy happens does not mean the movie sucks or is a "non-movie". And nowhere in your post do you give your opinion, you just make dumb, snide remarks.

This. Build up of suspense and what I thought would be some huge twist/climax just to be left with a flop of an ending.

I didn't really enjoy the movie at all. I was impressed with Affleck's performance though.

This shite is so irrelevant to the point and fun of the movie, it's absurd.
