Will miss the 2015 Season. I know it's pretty expected, but it still sucks because he is really fun to watch pitch. Best wishes to him and hopefully he'll have a speedy recovery.

Ouch, the Rangers had such a promising future just a few years ago

Obviously this sucks for Darvish and all but kills the Rangers chance of competing this year, but why this may not be bad for the Rangers long term.

What a ridiculous statement:
You mean, if you take away a team's top 3 starters, they will have the worst rotation in baseball? What a fascinating insight! I mean, for what team ISN'T that true?
ETA: I forgot their #4 starter, Martin Perez, is also on the DL due to Tommy John. So, if you take away a team's top 4 starters, they will have a terrible staff? WOW. Thanks for that hard-hitting analysis, fangraphs.

The 2015 Rangers just became potentially unwatchable, especially if they perform poorly, eventually trading away Yovani Gallardo and maybe even Derek Holland; the remnants of the rotation would be the worst in baseball.

Why is that? Usually when guys have Tommy johns during spring they are ready for opening day the next season
Not every time obviously but most of the time

I'd say there is virtually no way this happens. They will compete as best they can.
Let's suppose the above the starters hold true to form and one or two of their prospects pitches decently. Is that really a worse rotation than the one they rode to their last WS appearance?

They were a lot healthier in the World Series runs.
This Rangers team is full of injury plagued players or those who've gotten comfortable with fat contracts. The esprit de corps and chemistry has vanished from 4 years ago.
It will soon be time to start from scratch. They just haven't realized it yet and want to avoid a complete attendance tank. They can follow the old Rangers plug and play model of mediocrity or really invest in the long term. Let's all enjoy the downward spiral.
