These are being built by the medical community which means they have the resources. At the end of the day they will want this stuff in everyone's hands so I would expect it.

This is an advantage of the often maligned closed system. Apple had to get FDA approval for some of this Research Kit stuff. That kind of thing is a little harder to do in the Wild West of Android.

They're spending a lot of time on the keyboard.

I don't think this is going to be an Air, Maybe a replacement to the old white MacBook.

Considering they have built an empire on top of open source software, releasing a few of their own projects as open source is the least they could do.

They created an innovation from the scissor switch keyboard, it's "kinda" big. I wish they had innovated the mechanical keyboard instead of messing with the scissor switch, but it's all good.

I'm impressed. There are no other notebooks on the market that pay this much attention to the keyboard and trackpad. They are definitely going in the right direction for actual PC designs. Tablet portability without it having to be a tablet.

I'll be even more impressed if the processor is a speed/performance upgrade.

I was expecting a battery life improvement, but keeping the same battery life and still powering the high-res display is pretty good too.

I agree entirely. I was expecting a revision to the Macbook Air line today, but this is impressive.
