I kinda hope we get Buster Skrine from the Browns.
but I saw on Twitter that he's drawing a lot of interest.
should I believe twitter?

He is getting interest, but I don't think that he played much on the outside.

oh.
I thought he played a lot though because didn't Justin Gilbert get hurt?
Skrine didn't have very many interceptions but he was a pretty good cover corner I thought.

He played 14 games. Skrine may have played on the outside for those two games that he missed. Curious to see how he did if he replaced Gilbert opposite Haden. Paging Hoodoo: can you check Skrine's PFF stats against the Bills and the week 17 game against the Ravens? Those are the two games Gilbert missed.

Skrine was the other starter. Gilbert only played 373 snaps to Skrine's 1152.

Skrine had a -5.5 cover grade to Gilbert's 0.1. And Skrine rarely covered the top guys.

Damn, he had to have played on the outside with those snaps.
I assumed that it was Haden/Gilbert for the most part, but I know that the Browns were pissed off with Gilbert's attitude and play. They may match whatever reasonable offers Skrine gets if he's good.
I've been on the Chris Culliver bandwagon all offseason with Tarell Brown and Tramon Williams as my second choices, but Skrine may be a sneaky good pickup. He's the youngest of the 4, too. I just haven't seen him play as much.

Maybe he can play LB.

I just don't see how any of these options are better than PRob.

Jackson would have been (and we tried to get him) and Culliver will be. A guy like Williams would be a great stop gap.

Especially if PRob only costs us the vet min, which he very well may.
The Saints have been a really good organization over the past decade, but not throwing SJB to the wolves and giving him a bunch of snapce once we were out of the playoff race was a really bad decision. If he's good, we don't have to worry about CB2 as much. If he sucks, we may draft 8th/9th and have a shot at Shelton, or have Mariota fall to us and get a good deal to trade down.

To add on, Skrine has had at least a -5.5 coverage grade in all three seasons starting. That's why they drafted Gilbert.

I assumed that he was talking about McClain and Skrine. Yeah, Culliver could be close to as good as Lewis. My best guess as to what happens is that Williams comes home on a reasonable, short term deal.

We were offering Jackson around $9m per. Culliver will be in that range.
On Williams I just checked and he has never finished with a negative overall coverage grade. Damn. Surprising that D has been so bad with a guy like that and Clay Matthews.

I like PFF a lot, especially with helping gauge players I don't see often, but Maxwell was definitely a good player last season. He is certainly a risk given that he could have benefited from the talent around him, but he was also targeted frequently with other teams avoiding Sherman, so he had a lot of pressure on him. No way Culliver gets that much.

And with his age, I think that Williams could be more valuable to us than a lot of teams. We're going all in over the next 2-3 years before Brees really starts falling off. Other teams are more concerned with long term play. Culliver would be great, but if we can get Williams to give us 2-3 good years for 60-70% of the Culliver cost, he may be the better option. Plus the all LA CB duo would be fun.

Ok, well, when QB's threw into Maxwell's coverage, they came away with a passer rating of 78.5.
With Culliver?
66.5.
I guess you could argue what constitutes a coverage area.
