Any suggestions regarding this? I know this is a critical matter.
Go to the Mayo Clinic-I know it is far away but they are recognized as the best for pancreatic cancer, Whipple procedure, etc. If you can not do that then it's MD Anderson.

Never waste your time in Louisiana when there is world class medical care right down the I-10. I don't understand why Louisiana people are so afraid to leave the state when so much is at stake.
Oschner actually almost killed my mom. She had a tumor in her neck that was choking her. Oschner kept dicking around with scheduling and getting her medical records. Weeks were wasted. MD Andersen got her in and started treatment asap. She was stage 4 lymphoma fwiw and she survived.

Go Oschner for surgery. If cancerous, then start looking at MD

It took a few weeks to get my mom in to see a dr at md Andersen. SUrgent was not an option for her as her Cancer was terminal. If u are considering it contact your dads dr or oncologyst and tell them u want a referral to md Andersen. Good luck and hope they can help him.

Like mentioned before, Bolton and Conway are great at Ochsner. They have great transplant docs at Ochsner (Bohorquez, Carmody, Seale) if transplant is even an option. Either way, definitely get a second a opinion at MDA. Prayers to you, your father, and family.

I work at ochsner with Bolton and Conway. both are very good surgeons and for the most part, do their whipples robotically when feasible given patient factors. Besides being good surgeons, they are genuinely concerned about their patients and have impeccable bedside manner. Of course I wouldn't discourage a second opinion but that's all these guys do. They are surgical oncology docs so they don't do gallbladder removals and mastectomies, all they do is cancer surgery.....everyday.
Hope this helps

MD is MUCH more specialized. Buddy of mine is a pathologist there. He specializes in certain types of breast cancers. I've watched his collaboration with other pathologists in deciding what kind of cancer they were seeing. It was impressive.

I had surgery in California, UT MD Anderson, oschner Jefferson, and mayo clinic Rochester, MN. Surgery was the easiest part the chemo wore me out. Mine was in the abdomen and liver.
California - gun shot wound on the job in the abdomen emergency surgery found tumors. Had to redo exploritory surgery 1 week later care was great. Due to gun shot wound and 2 surgeries recovery took longer. Had excellent care.
Oschner Jefferson - had exploritory surgery tumors were back. Suggested chemo options California, mayo clinic, or MD Anderson. Care was great and treated like a patient not a number. MD Anderson surgeon said the work done there was very good my cancer was just spreading fast.
University texas MD Anderson surgery remove more tumors to reduce chemo time.
Bone marrow transplant
Experimental chemo which was done in Europe was waiting for drugs to be accepted for use in the USA.
Took total 9 months (chemo, surgery, bmt) I was back hair, working out back on my job.
Mayo clinic Rochester, MN.
Surgery recovery easiest out of all hospitals
Went here because my original oncologist left MD Anderson to go here.
released quicker and did my chemo outpatient in St. Paul, MN.
All great hospitals. I found if the surgeon or oncologist does not feel he or she can do it they will send you to the right place.
