I've got a bad feeling two years from now (assuming Steele is our DC then), A&M's defense will be as good as or better than LSU's and their offense will still be light years ahead of ours.
I find it amazing that people now (well after the fact) want to place the majority of the blame on the Chief for our head scratching losses over the last few years. While everyone else in the country not wearing P&G glasses can see that it is our stubborn, obnoxious offensive approach that has kept LSU from reaching its full potential since 2011. Don't disagree that late game defense bears SOME of the blame, but without consistently great defenses, Miles would have been on the hot seat a long time ago. Not to mention the job the Chief did this year alone (progress this defense made from September to November was impressive). But keep wearing the P&G glasses and acting like a child that just has toy taken away, next few years may be a wake up call for you.

I hope you feel better because reading your self-loathing diatribe has made me nauseous.

Some of you people are just plain damn stupid! Until A&M starts attracting better recruits , they won't be shite! ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconrolleyes.gif)

In the last two years, Chavis's defenses ranked in the 75th percentile and surrendered 5 leads in the last possession or late in the 4th.
And he wanted Muschamp money.

I'll bet you our defense is higher ranked than theirs in 2 years.
Question....why 2 years? Shouldn't they be better this year?

Someone posted a flashback thread from when we hired chavis. He had a 50th and 70th rated D before coming to LSU. In 2010 he had a secondary with pp7, Tm7, Reid, Claiborne, brooks and Simon.
The defense was loaded. I just have to believe any DC that comes in here will have more talent than they ever had before. Which will mask a lot of shortcomings.

I have a good feeling that in 2 years, LSU will either have a senior in Harris, or a top level redshirt freshman in Feleipe Franks running a loaded and experienced offense. I also have a feeling that a defense loaded on talent, will still be a consistent top 10 national defense. We had great defense with Muschamp, Pelini, Chavis, and now Steele will turn his whole career around with the talent we have.

Chavis did great while he was here, but his 3rd and Chavis prevent defense gave away many late game leads. Of course he carried the offense many years, but the offense also carried him (the entire 2013 season for example). He did not recruit and his supposedly guru status for LBs, did nothing for ours. We have been mediocre for years at LB. Kelvin Sheppard in 2010 and Kevin Minter in 2012 are the only respectably great seasons in his six years here.

Chavis departure is a 40/40/20 deal.
Chief got a little greedy on the $$$$$ side. 1.3 wasn't satisfactory and Alleva apparently wouldn't man up and meet with him face to face to discuss and negotiate.
So that desperate coach that's in way over his head without Holgorsen, Keenum, Manziel and an SEC caliber Defense, comes calling with an extra $400,000. Chavis sees no chance of an SEC Championship in the future with Les's antiquated offensive philosophy and HE GONE!
OK, now WE GONE. (Off to the Gymnastics meet against the Gophers).......

Thats because there have been numerous games where a defensive stop WINS the game.
