Mine is a red fox out of Boss. Great dog, great personality. Clay's working him now for some upcoming hunt tests. Can't wait to hunt him this year for his second season.

have to go with aBritish lab. Gender wont matter.
Black ones are bred to hunt more than the other color. Chocolate is off limits in my mind.

I have a female chessie. Sent to school twice. Very smart, of course, but hyper as hell. She was accidentally breed.... ....but it was the best thing that happened. Calmed her down a lot and seemed to be a better dog.

Choosing a good bloodline is more important than choosing male or female. But with that said, in my experience, my female tends to want to please more than my male does when it comes to training/hunting, even though they are GSPs. My male was extremely stubborn for the first part of training. I love my male, but I will never get another male hunting dog, no matter what breed.

I prefer a female dog for indoors. I very much prefer rubbing a female's belly than a males........
Will you be taking her/him ou tin a pirogue? Big anxious males are not as stable as smaller calm females.
Big males are beautiful to look at and watch work. Determined females may swim faster, negotiate thick brush better and be more willing to please.
All in all, either choice is great. Hope you enjoy your new dog and have many successful hunts.

Yeah my yellow lab got jungle fever for CajunCommanders lab. Hasn't been nearly as hyper since getting knocked up. Due by the end of the month
I have a pic but I'm not sure if that's considered porn

Haha, don't get down if he starts to get stubborn when you start training him. I almost gave up on Jäger, but one day, it was like a light turned on in his head, and everything started to click!

My .02. Wild rose are British labs.
If you go with wild rose they have breeding restrictions.
British labs are definitely the way to go.
I bought my British lab from Bobby Stewart, (Oxford MS), brother of Mike (wild rose)
I bred my female to another Stewarts British lab and kept a male pup.
I would go with a male British lab, more drive, same great temperament.

Agreed. I've had 2 British males . Both have been sweeter than any American female at the camp, and they live to hunt (second reason to live is to curl up on you on a couch at the camp).
