Coach O wasn't employed by any school at the time and he was free to talk to whoever he wanted to talk to. Nothing wrong with continuing to keep your ties to certain places strong knowing that you'll eventually be back in the thick of recruiting those areas. He most likely just told certain people he was going to end up at LSU. Unlike Chavis, who worked for LSU and was recruiting for another school in the process. Not only is that a violation, it's a bullshite, underhanded move by that fat piece of shite. LSU more than compensated that cupcake eating bastard while he was here by making him the highest paid assistant in the NCAA until Muschamp got paid more. Then his little tears went to flying when we wouldn't match that and he tried to screw over the school by flipping kids to A&M before he was actually working for them. So, frick that guy and I hope A&M gets pissed for him dragging them into this situation with potential recruiting violation and fires his fat arse.
I agree with this.

You're so clever
LSU should go after the money owed

Search coarch on this site. It's vernacular unique to TD, DA.
Oh and I couldn't use a hyphen. Go flail at some more potentially hypocritical grammatical windmills, CoachDonQuixote.

I would rather see A and M pay that--they can easily afford it. But I know just to be able to gloat, they will do whatever it takes to avoid payment and as noted above the SEC office will give LSU no help at all.

I am beginning to think that Chavis is not the sharpest knife in the drawer. It appears to me he has screwed this up pretty good. At this point I hope his best coaching years are behind him and this lawsuit remains as an emotional burden which prevents him from focusing on coaching.

I feel like legally A&M is about to get hit twice. They'll lose the lawsuit and have to pay $400,000. Then the NCAA will step in and hit them with recruiting violations. Essentially double jeopardy but not since NCAA isn't a legal institution.

With coach o, he was basically a stay at home dad that went to some hs football games. Completely diff.

But, wasn't Chavis on the phone with Sumlin the morning of the Bowl Game (Dec 30th). Remember the pool boy.
Isn't that malfeasance or something; not doing your best effort, divided loyalties, etc?
There's plenty of stuff out there with him (in TAM gear), recruiting, talking etc prior to Jan 5th.
Is it just the NFL where you have to ask permission to talk to a currently-employed coach?

i totes agree.
if there is photographic evidence that he was recruiting on behalf of A&M in January, while he was still employed by LSU, then that is a recruiting violation. period.
and if that is the case, submitting a February 5th resignation letter is not only invalid with respect to the contract, but it is also fraudulent. I wouldn't go so far as to suggest that Chavis will be punished any more than having to payout the $400K, but I'm pretty sure that attempting to defraud a public institution out of that amount of cash is a fricking felony.
the two situations are linked and succumbing to guilt in one of them does not (or should not) negate responsibility for the other.

I just feel like this is gonna bite LSU in the arse. The SEC is gonna say that although Chavis was in aTm gear and with Sumlin, he was technically an LSU employee and was recruiting aTm commits that had signed an FAA to aTm during the dead period.

Sumlin didn't give a chit about the buyout. His arse was on the hot seat with recruits jumping ship left and right, he threw the money at Chavis, told him they'd handle all his debts to LSU, and wanted a picture of Chavis in Aggie gear as soon as possible, Jan 1st, stepping off that plane he got his picture and statement.
You can bet Sumlin also figured this would flip many LSU recruits his way like Boom did with Auburn.........he got a LB that was commited to ULL
The whole situation was intended to harm LSU in many ways, it just didn't all work out like Summy planned.
