I want to beat A&M 51-0 next year. Drive it down their damn throats, a few long TD passes over the top, plenty of third down conversions and a TD followed by a 2 point conversion on the last play of the friggin game. Screw Chavis.
Make that 63-0.
Make that 63-0.

He's not talking about stats. Sure his defenses will have worse stats at TAM than at LSU, but, from his point of view, so what. Seems he felt to much was placed on his defense to win games. Didn't get much help from the offense at LSU. Hard to disagree with that. Sure, slowing down the game and TOP all help the defense look good statistically, but if the offense doesn't score points or move the ball, it tends to leave it all on the defense to win games. That's what he is saying.

A D coordinator can't realistically think that an offense is going to out score everyone.....
No. Just like it's unreasonable to expect his defenses to pitch a shut out and get 3-and-outs every single possession.

LSU couldn't even break 30 with 500 yards of offense. now that they have a better DC than last year you expect us to triple the amount of points scored against them? how about LSU worry about its own problems instead of aTms?

Yeah, sure against UGA. If you want to pin the Ole Miss game on the defense, then... Lol.
Either way, I was referring primarily to last year.

compared to how many times the offense let down the defense in six years?
I swear, its like some of you have become so complacent with how bad our offense is that the defense must simply accept it and pick up the slack.
also, I think when your "best offense in school history" *not even sure if thats accurate* is still 6th best in the conference and 35th in the country then that speaks volumes about your program in general.

Yes there is some valid points about the defense being under extra strain this past season but how about your defenses being under unnecessary strain from not getting more 3 and outs or drives less than 6 plays because of 3RD AND CHAVIS!!!!! and they go on 10-15 play drives because Chavis your defenses can't stop 3rd down plays time after time after time...

What about 2013 when the offense was humming with Mettenberger, Landry, OBJ, Hill, etc. How much pressure was his defense under then? Fact of the matter is we ended up losing the west because of defense.

Ole Miss picked up a 3rd and 6(that should've been a 3 and out) and 3rd and 10 on their game winning drive but it's all on Mett.

Don't be bringing logic in here. I am considering our, soon-to-be, much improved QB play and I still want 63-0.

did you only just start watching LSU football with the Liberty Bowl? because your assessment of Chavis' defense is inaccurate at best and pathetic and lazy at worst.

Never said it was all on Mett. But the offense sure as shite did the defense no favors that night (nor did they do the defense any favors at all last year).
Question: If a guy goes 3-4 with 4 RBI but his only out was a strikeout to end the game... Is he to blame for his team losing?

Our offense put up 30 PPG in 2013 and we sucked because he refused to pull DJ welter. In either context the excuse is bullshite

UGA - 5th year QB who was arguably the best in the conference
ole miss - offense struggled in the first half with 3 TOs
bama - offense was shutdown essentially the entire 2nd half
now remind me again how the defense lost the West?
QED'd, take a lap.

In reality it didn't matter what the score was, high or low, his issue was stopping the other team on the last drive or two to preserve the win. McCarron said in 2012 that the coaches had drilled them during the week on exactly what LSU was going to do on D in 2 minute.

Does the 525 yds Ole Miss had that night compare to 3-4 4 RBIs?

We've heard it all
He left because the offense didnt score enough points
He left because we didn't want to give him 1.5+ mil, only 1.33 mil
He left because of the "Miles Clause" in his contract where we owe him no money 6 months after Les Miles is no longer the coach at LSU
Bottom line is, we get the last laugh on this one because we are LSU and he is at one of our whipping schools. Hope he enjoys the end to what would have been a very noteworthy respectable career. Not the best way to get your last job off to a start by suing both your current and former employers.
In the end, we are LSU and outside of ONE season Miles has had nothing but top notch defenses here at LSU. Pelini was successful, Muschamp was successful and Chavis was successful. This leads me to believe A LOT of what makes great defenses at LSU is the personnel, not really just the coaching.
