My office is on the intercoastal right by the houma/dularge bridge. Bayou black is just behind me. We see at least one a day. They are constantly swooping down to pick up the fish that the tugs push up or the mice/rabbits in the fields

Spillway = bonnet carte.
Basin = basin.

I should have a nest of owls behind my house again this year.
Last year those puff balls were pretty cool to watch sitting on the edge of the nest/hole in the tree.

Damn things are so successful as a Order(Strigiformes) we don't put even a dent in them.
That's good news. Owls are pretty badass creatures.
ETA - My brother's ship (Navy) had one hitch a ride across the Atlantic. When they realized it was on the boat after leaving the Med, they started bring it strips of meat to keep it fed.

Maybe to you, but a lot of people call the Basin the Spillway. That's why I was asking. You probably saw one of the same ones we were talking about on the last page.

I believe it. I've seen a dozen or more in the last 5 months.

I've still never seen one for some reason!

Sorry honey, that eagle just swooped down and flew away with Fluffy, there was nothing I could do. Lets get a big dog that is eagle proof...

I have seen two on Cross in Shreveport. Pretty cool to see them in the wild.

They are everywhere at Toledo Bend. Golden eagles, too. I see several everytime I go.

I haven't been able to verify if it's an eagle nest, but it's really large

Saw one this year duck hunting in Houma. Swooped down and grabbed a big ole' gray that we shot right out of the water. Pretty amazing.

Idk, they're ususlly the same size or slightly larger than the bald eagles, and are mostly dark with light splotches on them.

Take your kids to Lake Verret if you want to get some good eagle sightings.
We went last year and they were everywhere.
