Was it red? If so, that was his mom's.

1. Metallica - Jun 15th 1992 - PMAC
- number 1 because it was my first concert.
2. Hum/Toadies/Bush - 1995 - PMAC
- This show marked my first date ever, also got to see Hum perform for the first time pressed against the wall in front of the stage. (thought i might pass out at one point)
3. Tool - March 10 1997 - Austin Music Hall
- "Borrowed" my mother's car, skipped school, and drove to Austin from Baton Rouge for this amazing show.
4. Smashing Pumpkins - February 5th 1997 - UNO Lakefront
- The Pumpkins never sounded better, this show was amazing.
4. NOFX - 1995 i think - Jimmy's New Orleans
- number 1 because it was my first concert.

Superdome 1977ish. I don't remember the year but I do remember the awesomeness of Van Halen, Doubies and The Rolling Stones.
Wow, just wow.

I have 3 that rank so close I can't choose between them:
1(a): The Beatles at City Park Stadium (now Tad Gormley);
1(b). Jimi Hendrix at City Park Stadium (now Tad Gormley); and
1(c): The Allman Brothers first concert at the Warehouse.
Honorable Mention:
The second Atlanta Pop Festival (1970) and
The New Orleans Pop Festival in Prairieville (1969).

Those METERS shows I saw between 89 and 93 or so, before Leo split, at Tip's. Drunk, stoned, and sweaty (no A/C), everybody gettin' the f*ck down. Russell was no Zigaboo but damn were they funky. Still have some bootleg tapes of those shows that I break out during mardi gras and jazzfest. Then Stoltz replaced Leo and the magic sort of died for me...
Bill Monroe at the HOB in 95 I think it was. Just wanted to see a legend that was not long for this world. He played great and even had enough energy to do a little bit of his signature buck dancing. Less then a year later he was gone...
There are others. Don't think it's possible to pick best.

Some favorite memories:
Streetlight Manifesto at the House of Blues with one of my best friends. We had a blast and then met the band after the show. Great memory.
Pearl Jam at Jazz Fest. I almost got smoked with a runaway drumstick towards the end of the performance.
ZOSO at the Varsity, was a spur of the minute decision to check out their show after the planned activities on my second date with my now SO of 4 years had taken less time then I'd anticipated. She spent most of the concert poking fun at the lead singer's Robert Plant impersonation and his ridiculous pants.
Flight of the Conchords at the Santa Barbara Bowl. It was my senior trip. I had just graduated high school, my middle brother had just graduated from LSU. He had just gone to the beach for spring break, so we chose to go out west instead to Los Angeles. Arj Barker opened up. It was unbelievably funny to watch him at first because there was a whole 2 rows of children right in the front. He was really unsure of himself when he got to the profanity-laden punchlines. It was really great when he very gingerly edged into his first "f%$k", unsure if it was ok. When he saw the children laughing, and more importantly their parents and chaperons, he loosened up and started spreading out his profanity like sprinkles on a sunday. Then, Bret and Jermaine came out in Robot Costumes to sing "Too Many D&@ks on the Dance Floor". It was a great night.

Van Halen, December 7, 1991. Had decent seats on the side. Ran into some girls I knew from school who had an empty seat on the front row. They upgraded me. High fives from Sammy, Eddie and Mikey. Glorious night.
Have also greatly enjoyed Clapton, the Eagles and AC/DC in the last few years. I've been on a mission to complete my bucket list of concerts. But that night in Baton Rouge was the best.

Foo Fighters - 2007 House of Blues after Katrina
They had JUST released ESPG and opened with "Let It Die" which I hadn't heard yet. The buildup was the biggest rush I've ever felt at a concert. The whole place almost teared up after Best of You. Great night, was 2-3 rows back of the stage.

Chuck Berry. 1971. Very small venue. Rufus was his backup band.

My problem answering your question is that I want to answer it in several ways.
The most amazing live act I ever saw was Deep Purple when it was Blackmore, Gillan, Lord, Paice and Glover. Every song they played was familiar, but at the same time unique. The songs were played according to a predetermined structure, but all of the solos were extemporaneous, and lasted as long as the soloist wanted. If you watch YouTube videos, or listen to live recordings, of them you will notice that the song lengths were never the same, and they could vary drastically.
The best concert I attended was a Day on the Green at the Oakland Coliseum. It was Peter Frampton, Fleetwood Mac, Gary Wright and UFO. Musically, it was not the best, but it was the best because of the people I was with and the atmosphere.
The best concert I saw for musicianship in a club is a toss up. Nils Lofgren at the Old Waldorf and Roy Buchanan at the Great American Music Hall. The best concerts for having a good time were seeing Mojo Nixon and Dash Rip Rock on several occasions.
