When we first laid eyes on the mythical "Sushirrito" on Reddit, it seemed too good to be true: a sushi roll swollen to the size of a burrito, stuffed with veggies, sauces, rice, and raw fish, and eaten with your hands.
"Mutant foods" appear to be all the rage right now, from Dominique Ansel's cronut to Keizo Shimamoto's Ramen Burger. San Francisco-based Sushirrito, which serves a "sushi burrito" is a natural evolution of that trend, one born from necessity.
Years ago, founder Peter Yen worked downtown in San Francisco and found himself craving sushi for lunch, but did not have time for a sit-down meal. Nagged by a growing concern about overfishing that was decimating the seafood population, Yen began to dream up a new way to consume sushi that was fast, fresh, affordable, portable, and environmentally conscious. The sushi burrito was born.

Business Insider's senior West Coast tech editor Karyne Levy ordered the most popular menu item, according to a Sushirrito manager. The Geisha's Kiss bundles raw yellowfin tuna caught by hand-line, tamago (a type of Japanese omelet made of layered cooked egg), spicy piquillo peppers, yuzu Tobiko (flying fish roe, or caviar), lotus chips (a crunchy and baked root vegetable), Namasu cucumber, butter lettuce, and avocado.

shite looks great. I still don´t get how this solves his nagging concern regarding overfishing.....

For some reason that just doesn't do it for me.

It looks like it tastes great, but one of the things that I love about sushi is the delicate blend of two to three singular ingredients all in a moderately sized bite.

Sushi Yama in BR has a sushi burrito. It's pretty good from what I recall. However it's not nearly as big as what's in picture the OP posted.

Looks awesome, would dominate that
Closest thing I can think of around here is The burrito roll at sushi Yama, which is also awesome

I'd eat it but
Would prefer to sit and eat traditional sushi

I'd eat it, and enjoy it, but way too many bites would be without fish in them.

Looks like something the simple-minded sushi crowd will go ballistic over.

It's awesome. We get lunch there all the time. The Geisha is the best - and their homemade hot sauce is killer.

They've had this at little Tokyo on Carrollton for quite some time. It's amazing.

Would have really been great paired with miso soup using instant dashi, amirite?

A joke so smart even you probably don't get it. Nice job being the smartest guy in your own room. Come back when you have something to say that people on this board actually care about.

I don't like the idea. Sushi is bite size for good reason. A few bites into that and you'll have a sloppy falling apart mess
