In all seriousness, I am white collar and both my parents are.
But I grew up around a lot of blue collar people, and in general those guys get more respect out of me than the white collars.

In 15-20 years when the last of the boomers retire/die off, the millennials who are electricians/plumbers etc will be absolutely loaded. Our generation has no clue how to fix those things and everyone got their general studies degree instead of going to trade school

Already happening in some construction fields.
Welders, heavy equipment operators, carpenters, etc.

Who is the assholes hanging out with assholes that look down at anyone that is hard working?
You have a job you are passionate about and put yourself in the best situation to prosper, you have my respect. From nasa engineer to drive thru worker.

Humans love to consider themselves superior to other humans, for whatever reason. Jobs, religion, material possessions, etc. It's just part of the human condition.
A more interesting question is why blue collar workers should not be allowed to earn reasonable wages. The decline in Unions is a big part of the decline in the middle class.

What I meant was it was generally easier to find a hard working blue collar guy than a hard working white collar guy, we are essentially agreeing though.
If you bust your arse, you get respect.

I have a friend that went to work for a plumber out of high school, almost 20 years later he owns his own company and employs about a dozen plumbers himself. He makes more than the friends that went to med school

Yep
My BIL barely finished HS. Never even considered college an option. Started working for an electrician right out of HS and now 13 years later, he has his own business and 5 employees. He is killing it right now.

You want to find the wealthiest guy on the construction site? The ones with the 2000 acre deer ranch in Texas? The ones with the 60 foot sportfisher?
Find the Plumbing/HVAC or Electrical Sub. I can almost gurantee you the guy doesn't have more than a high school education too, but he sure as shite garners 40% of the capital construction cost.

also on days like today, when I'm just sitting here at this desk, wasting my life away, I really wish I would have taken the time to learn carpentry from my Dad.
He always tried to teach, but as a teenager, carpentry isn't cool or sexy, so I just never cared.
Now the idea of working in a shop, working with wood all day at my own pace and setting my own schedule sounds like a dream.

It's not all about the money.
I don't want to do physical labor or live the blue collar lifestyle.

My two bro n laws are construction guys--build houses. They make good money but they do have a chip on their shoulders about college grads. I think it's a self-esteem issue.
I respect and admire anyone who works hard. This goes for the sociology grads who end up killing it in sales. I just wouldn't go around bragging about my useless degree.

Was wondering the same. I guess if I become a master electrician, I need to start drinking beer out the back of my truck in my white tank top
