LSU basketball game atmosphere

So, I'm watching the Duke/Carolina game, and before I get started, I do realize that this game has the greatest atmosphere in all of college basketball. Whoever is in charge of gameday operations for men's basketball needs to take a different approach, and here's why.
I watch a lot of college hoops, and a lot of times, you rarely hear the band, only piped in music. That's what the players want. For the most part, that's what your students at the games want to hear. Too much band inside the PMAC, and more piped in music. Get the crowd involved. They did it a little at the Kentucky game, because it seemed like they pulled out all the stops for that one.

I've been saying this for years. The gameday experience at the PMAC sucks.

I love the band. But too many great momentum runs are ruined by a hey fighting tigers or that godawful halftime arrangement

Agreed. Move the media and band, expand students to those areas, lessen the amount the band is active

No to the piped in music. The student section and crowd need to take over, and the band should be a bit more hip. I think the bans at Tennessee was playing the Game of Thrones theme music. Stuff like that.
And lose the "left right sit down" garbage. How unoriginal.

Oh God, this year's halftime entertainment has been horrid. Love me some Tiger Girls, but when they bring out all the "bruhhhs" out there to plat put out or whatever the hell they decide to do, its silly. The MC tries to get people involved, but it just aint happening.
And yea, the team will go on some 10-0 run, other team calls time out, and then we get the "Bengal Brass" to play "We Want The Funk". After timeout, visiting team comes back.
Let's hear it Tiger faaaaaans! **crickets**
Regardless, they have to step their game up in the near future.

-Band is in a terrible spot/band shouldn't be there at all
-Seats are too far from the court.
-Media section in a terrible spot

I agree ... It's very weak !!
The Place really just needs to be gutted inside and restructured .. The fans need to feel the excitement in the building , but the atmosphere is boring and stale... LSU season tickets are not sold out, also the tradition fees have removed many of the true basketball fans that use to go to the games. LSU Basketball needs a reconstruction, and a new coach.

I've been saying this for years - moving the student section to its current location was a mistake. It needs to go back to where it was when Shaq and CJ played here (when I was a student). Of course, the students need to show up and the team needs to be consistently good.
Those days in the PMAC were awesome - and loud.

I have an idea...since Duke is the epitome of college basketball atmospheres...how about LSU hire someone who has been in the Duke athletic department, like maybe an athletic director, to develop the same atmosphere here.

Those teams are two of the handful of college teams from a basketball hotbed that have a tradition of passion for hoops that transcends most colleges in America. There are very few schools that can compare and when they play each other that's magnified.
LSU baseball is a similar example in a school whose fans are so disproportionally passionate about a sport. In LSU's case for baseball it's even more in a vacuum though as there or even fewer schools relatively speaking who have anywhere near the passion and it magnifies how passionate our fans look when you come there and most schools are used to playing in front of a few thousand or eve 100's of fans.

the student section being 95% empty year after year caused this. now most seats are held by season ticket holders in what used to be the student section. the lower and mid level seats also have some high yearly taf fees, so its not moving back any time soon. the band and media need to be moved into higher sections though. no reason to have them take up most of the space on that end.

What you fail to note is the fact that UNC and Duke are historic powerhouses in basketball who win consistently. If you win, especially the games you are expected to do so, maybe more fans would be inclined to show up and cheer their hearts out.
For schools like Duke, basketball season is everything. It's their football season. Fans and boosters pull out all of the stops to make the experience as enjoyable as possible.
However, I guarantee you that if given the choice, any fanbase would be more willing to have a football atmosphere comparable to the LSUs of the world rather than a basketball experience similar to Duke or UNC.
That's like Texas Tech fans lamenting about a sub-par gameday atmosphere for football.

Moving the student section to the baseline wasn't a great move for the atmosphere, but I'm sure it help generate a few more $$$$ by being able to sell those seats at a premium. Playing more piped in music would be fine, but I don't think that in and of itself will significantly help the atmosphere. When it's all said and done the atmosphere is dependent on one thing, winning.
Sustained success = larger crowds = more raucous atmosphere. Until that happens you can bring out all the bells and whistles you want, it won't make much of a difference. There was no piped in music in the 80's, yet it was one the best basketball atmosphere's around. You can figure out why

Fix that and you'll fix the game atmosphere.
