Seems like it has alot to offer. Pacific Beaches, Easter Island, Andes mountains, glaciers, desert, volcanos and the world's largest pool. Pictures look pretty legit. What does the OT think of Chile?

Good in the winter with crackers and cheese. I like noodles in mine as well.

Well that's good news because we get married next February.

Yep, hence the world's largest pool next to the ocean.

Is it safe to travel there? That would be my biggest question (I know nothing about Chile)

Ahh. Well that makes sense. I guess I just need to do my research, but it's always nice to read about the personal experiences of an OTer.

I don't see why not. My parents just returned from a trip to Argentina and spent a day in Chile. That's sort've what spurred the idea. They just didn't spend enough time there to really form a solid opinion except that it was "Breath taking" upon first reaction.

I'm getting married this April and we are headed to St Lucia.
can't wait, it has been too damn cold here lately.

How long and what do y'all have planned?
I know two couples who have gone. 1 said it was beautiful and beach was super nice, but at the end it was a little of the same and kind of boring. Were ready to come home.
The other just said it was awesome. lol

7 nights.
enough to get away and relax. we don't have anything planned yet, but may go do a waterfall tour or something.

Probably a pretty cool place but I'd be more inclined to go check out Machu picchu in Peru first

Chile was an amazing trip. Itis safe to travel there, as long as you use your common sense and stay to the areas that seem safe. We felt very safe at any restaurant, park, or market. Walking most streets and public transportation seemed very safe as well.
Santiago is like any other big city, however, setting is ideal. 45 minutes east are the Andes Mountains, 45 minutes west are the beaches. In between the city and the beaches is the wine country.
We also flew down to Temuco, and spent some time in the lake/volcano region. Lots of thermal baths to visit, and unbelievable scenery. We stayed in Pucon, a great little tourist town set at the foot of a volcano and on a big lake. It similar to a much cheaper Lake Tahoe. Climb Mount Villarica, the volcano, if the weather is cooperative. Also lots of white water activities in the area.
Easter Island is a cool place to visit that only a few people will ever actually see. We decided it was too expensive to take the time to visit. I know a few people who have been, and they enjoyed it, but the overall consensus was that it took valuable time and money away from their trip.
I loved Chile. Everyone we met was very friendly. I would suggest knowing a litle Spanish. I would move there in a heart beat.

I think Chile is an excellent idea, although make sure you understand just how far away Easter Island is. It's not just a puddle jumper away.
