Disrupting their concentration somehow and making them not hit the ball to the best of their ability.

I didn't read most of the thread, but are the people arguing that defense is a key component of a sport saying that track and field is not a sport? Rowing? Any winter sport?

You need competition in a sport. Getting granular on the logistics is ignorant.

Somehow?

By calling them a jackass? Bending their 9 iron?

Getting in their head by playing well is about the best you can do. Having a good "offense" is the best "defense" is your answer?

ETA I don't feel you elaborated very much by saying get in their head somehow.

I think prostitution takes more physical skill than some sports people are considered athletes in, but I would consider golf a sport.

It's physical skill, mental skill, the weather comes into play, it's a competition.

There's no guarantee of that. What if the person doesn't listen or mentally blocks you out, then you've done nothing. It is 100% up to that person swinging if they will hit a good shot or not.

If someone blocks your shot attempt in basketball, there is no mentally focusing and blocking them out...that ball is not going to score.
