I wouldn't be mad if he got off on insanity.....because I think he really does have something wrong with him. He definitely has multiple personality disorder and shows some signs of schizophrenia....oh and he also has that strange facial tic

Remember they had leverage on Robert because he needed the documentary footage to show he wasn't threatning his brother Doyglas, simply showing where he lived. Before that Robert was going to flake out on them and probably never do the last interview. They got really lucky to get his reaction to the 2 letters which were identical block handwriting and his mic was hot in the restroom.

Just incredible

Holy shite!

I hadn't seen any of the episodes yet, so I just binged all 6 tonight. This was fascinating. He's a true psychopath and the talking to himself thing was freaky. It's possible he was doing it on purpose but it's also very possible he forgot he was miked again. You're caught!

When that letter got busted out, I immediately said look at the Ns to my wife. She said the Rs were what she noticed. Just simply insane. Also a sad indicator of the shitty justice system in this country. Galveston DA fricked up.

Jarecki did a great job and props to him for the Lebowski sweater

So will HBO have to pull all of its episodes? I haven't watched any yet.

Me too. Once I started I knew I would have to finish. Jarecki was incredible and the entire story had me from the first minute.

It was a service you could call to get movie listings. Probably best known from Seinfeld.

I haven't read any of this thread, just skipped straigh to the last post.

All I know abotu this is what some people on the radio show were talkign abotu this morning. I can't tell if this is more of a "show" (like true detective for instance) or if it's actually "real", like some sort of documentary.

Can someone help me out?

Intriguing. Based on the thread title I assumed it was just a show, I never would have thought it was real life until I heard the radio this morning.

Yeah its a 6 part documentary mini series. 100% real. Not even an exaggeration, it is one of the best things I have ever watched.

I just heard on Htown local news Durst in past does not plead insanity as a defense because the way his family trust fund is written, if he does use insanity / mental defense then he loses that trust $.

I know the stereotype of Jews being thrifty is mean/crude, but in the case of Bob Durst and the Durst family, it really does apply.

I couldn't help but laugh at that stupid arse juror that thought he was innocent of all three. They were just framing this poor old man.

I can't wait to see what the new evidence is out of the LAPD. Because what they have now seems fairly thin in terms of reasonable doubt.

I'll preface this by saying that I don't know much about legal proceedings, but they seem to have a very weak case imo, based strictly on what we know they have from the documentary.

I think handwriting is something that would be easy to disprove, even with the same spelling error. It would be great supporting evidence if there was anything more substantial, but they can't place him near the crime scene during the murder.

And the confession seems like it would be easy for the defense to have dismissed based on circumstances. Privacy rights or something. Plus he was just talking to himself. He wasn't asked a direct question such as, did you kill them? He can say whatever he wants to himself. It doesn't seem like it can stick to me.

Again, I don't know anything else the prosecution may have nor do I have extensive knowledge on legal proceedings.

People get put away all the time for handwriting, that's why there are forensic handwriting specialists.

To me, if I was in the jury, I would say there is enough to find him guilty. The fact that he was in California at the same time she was murdered, and has a trail of him traveling south, toward L.A., and the rigomortous (sp?) of the body showed she was laying dead in her home for over 24 hrs. giving plenty of time for him to drive to San Fran and then fly home the day after she was killed.

All of that in addition to the letter and his confession in the doc, to me should be enough for a conviction.

I;m not a legal expert by any means and I probably think too much on emotion about this. I just don't see how anyone on the jury in L.A. could say he is innocent now. Hell the prosecution just needs to show the doc to the jury and it will have more evidence against him than 3 different police departments were ever able to get on their own.
