I thought Chianti's burned down? Or am I confusing this for another place?

that was Olive Street Bistro

and I tend to agree with boss in this thread...although I've never had a bad meal at Twisted Root.

if you are up here on Thursday through Saturday, just go to the Great Raft taproom one evening. There is generally food trucks or Ki Mexico (the best thing in Shreveport) at the brewery.

My buddies that live n Shreve realky like it. Ive been 4 times.... 1st 3 I tried burgers... 3 different meats.... All dry & overcooked. I hate dry burgers. 4th timeI stuck w apps.... Will admit the 4th trip was my fault: chili fries, fried pickles & beer. It served its purpose as food and I deserved what I got the next morning. I will go for a beer, but will eat elsewhere. To each his own.

did you ever just try beef?

I never go for the wild or exotic meats as they are never as good as just beef

there is a reason beef is king

If you're looking for wine go to lucky palace in bossier city. Huge wine selection. The place looks like it's in a hourly rate motel because I think it is, but their wine selection is very extensive for the area.

How does L'Italiano compare to Giusseppie's? Similiar. Neither as good as Chianti.

I disagree. I would rate L'Itlaiano first, Giseeppie's 2nd, Chianti 3rd. And L'Itlaliano is actually lower prices.

Chianti's and L'Italiano are owned by three brothers and Giuseppe is owned by a cousin. Giuseppe is a newer building and a little more formal/white table cloth and are open for Sunday brunch. I like all three of them and you can't go wrong with any of them. Some posters loathe Giuseppe but I like it. All three of their cuisines are somewhat similar and are a little more northern Italian influenced than some of the other Sicilian restaurants.

Have you tried the ceviche at Mariscos la Jaibita? It's a dive compared to Cantina Laredo but their ceviche, vuelve s la vida, and caldo de siete mares are really good.

Have not, but will put it on my radar next time im n town. Gotta say tho, dont like sweet fruits (mango, etc) in my ceviche. Probably why I like Cantinas so much.... Lime juice, olives, capers! Ive got their recipie & make at home.

I've been to Giuseppe's once with a large group.

Granted it was one of those fixed menu type deals but overall it was tasty. For an upscale place, they have a decent little bar to your right when you walk in

I'm usually very picky when it comes to Italian and this met my needs

Is Olive Street Bistro going to open again?

Fairly certain I have been there, prior to the fire.

I will make it a point to hit back up Chianti's when I am back in town. Had forgotten about this place and it is good.

And a place that may not get the hype or deserve any, I enjoyed my last meal at the original Monjuni's. Lasagna was

Anyone else hear the mafia rumors about Olive Street Bistro? Specifically that they burned it down on purpose for the insurance money?

I loved that place. My family used to go there on Christmas Eve.

Lots of good recs in this thread. I went to Frank's last time I was in town and really enjoyed it.
