Is the union still saying this is about safety?

They see it as a safety issue

Well I can say it's an aeronautical issue, that doesn't make it one

True. They view their workers are superior and make the safety argument on that.

Ur still an employee every thing stays the same. You should contact hr for more info 465-5272 the only thing we lost was vacay the longer we stay out. The rumors about getting fired are false and company reps have already stated harrasment of any kind will not be tolerated. We have laws to protect us we just need to stick together. I go back in tommorow morning. Good luck

Nah, I'm in it, but this is changing things. I got in it b/c I was new and didn't want to be that guy. There are a few things that if the union handles appropriately I'll stay but if they give a couple people whose situations I know are extremely unique, I'm out.

I'm getting out ASAP. I'll be "that" bc I have bigger issues to worry about other the frickin union. I have an obligation to my family to provide and protect them and no one is going to tell otherwise.

They haven't found a way to fire these union shills yet?
It's pathetic that they can walk off the job and then walk back to it like they didn't try to screw the employer in the arse.

The company knew this was a part of it when they decided to affiliate with usw
I'd guess it's in the contract

No, the company is forced to listen to USW if the worker's vote to certify them as the representative. Federal law prevents the employer from refusing to listen.
I HIGHLY doubt the company ran out and begged the USW to infiltrate its facility.

Walking out and walking back in (striking) is protected by federal law.
Federal law is just as big a problem as the union shills.

So a company is a union company against their will?
Man I am thinking less and less about the union the more I learn

In almost all cases, that is true. The workers vote to certify, and then the company is forced to deal with the union.
That's why Wal-Mart goes out of its way to stop any union movement among its workers before it even really begins. They don't want to be forced to deal with the union.
There are some exceptions, such as the recent attempt to unionize the car plant in Tennessee. In that case, the company actually wanted there workers to unionize. But, it was a German auto company who is used to dealing with unions (work councils) under German law.
In America, no private company should want to be infiltrated by a union.

Many of the operators and maintenance guys didn't want to strike, but, they waived the right to refuse to strike when the majority of dues paying members elected to be part of National Oil Bargaining.
Does anyone know what happens if a local refuses to follow strike orders?
