If you broke up with a girl because you were arguing about who has the better Mardi Gras, you have bigger issues in your personal life you need to deal with.

I wouldn't say that. It's not pointless to those in LA that take part each year. Just not really celebrated all over the US that's all.

Lafayette's is pretty legit. I've been several times. It's like going to mardi gras uptown without the ladders and there are places to pee. It's a more family friendly experience, but it's still a lot of fun. Definitely plenty of legit debutantes.

I'd go New Orleans>Lafayette>Baton Rouge, but Spanishtown is my favorite parade.

I'm really not full of shite. I was young and dumb. Even transferred schools and did a semester at USA.

we never argued about who had the better MG. She just made it out to be wayyyy more than it was. I just hated how shitty of a town Mobile was and that was the straw that broke the camel's back, the fact I missed a good arse time with friends and family that I already missed. Turned out to be a bad idea chasing the female... Have no reason to make this up.

But yeah the streets downtown was absolutely clear and bars were empty the "big" night of parades in Mobile haha. I don't rember exactly where we lived but I know it was on Government street I believe and supposed to be a good area for letting the good times roll. Wrong.

Have you ever been to a recent parade in da parish? Everyone in town shows up. The town is rocking. The route sucks though.

Irish Italian Islenos parade is the greatest shitshow on Earth

I'll add to your comment and say that frenchman street the morning of Mardi Gras day is unreal. It's like being in a completey different world and its so different that what going on just on the other side of town.

These are the things that make Nola the best IMO. Nola Mardi Gras is so versatile depending on what you want to do.

You can catch parades downtown and party down in the Quarter (not my cup of tea).

You can house party, crawfish boil, BBQ, in Mid city (Endymion) or Uptown (any number of parades), or party on the neutral ground.

If you don't like the parade nonsense you can attend balls.

And Mardi Gras day on the backstreets of the Quarter and the Marigny is truly a sight to behold. It's like the twilight zone.

If you can't find something fun to do during Mardi Gras in Nola there's no hope for you.

Love Mardi Gras. No better people watching and great reason for day drinking.

Is that parade quality or crowd and atmosphere?

This discussion depends on what you're looking for,but I think you'd be hard pressed to say that Nola Mardi Gras isn't the "best." Buggest parades, biggest balls (no pun intended), but the downside is the biggest crowds.

Objectively, since more people go to Nola than any other locale (before anyone says something I'm talking about in the US), Nola is again the best.

Having said that, Spanish Town Ball is a lot of fun, and the parade is great too. Mamou is definitely interesting and the food is great.

I've only gone to NO Mardi Gras. I'd like to travel around and check out some of the other ones one day, perhaps when I'm older
