my ol foam hen decoy finally tore on me on the last hunt of 2014. any suggestions on what I should look for as an upgrade/replacement? thinking about maybe a jake/hen combo. TIA

Gotta be foam. Can't beat being able to fold that dude up and putting it in your vest. Guess it depends on what type of hunting you're doing.
Single hen if anything ftw.

Dave, I loved my foam and it seemed like it lasted 6-7 years. just caught up in all this mojo nonsense nowadays, I was thinking about getting something "cooler". reckon I ought to listen to the old saying "the old way is the best way"

I don't even know what's available these days. The foam decoys have the least amount of detail, but for me, they have enough. I want to carry around as little as possible. I can pop out and set up a foam decoy in probably 10-20 seconds. That means more to me than real feathers or perfectly painted heads or artificial beards. A bobcat attacked one of my dads foam decoys, so I figure they'll do the trick.
...they're a lot cheaper too.

$120 for a full strut?!
They do look mighty nice though.

I've shot the head off a jake decoy while shooting a gobbler standing in front of it. Gobbler didn't flop. I then sat there and watched another gobbler walk up and peck the headless decoy while strutting and gobbling before I shot him too. Killed 2 more turkeys that year with that headless decoy. Your decoy needs to look like a turkey. Level of detail is purely relative to human preference.
