I'm not sure how it works with non-resident, but for residents, we need to buy a Basic AND a Salt water. Can't buy just the salt water on it's own. You may want to call Academy before hand to get that clarified.
If you are definitely coming, email me at the address I posted in reply to Hammertime above and I'll reply to you with my cell phone #.

I''l be there early as CD said...will bring the Sig 1911 tac ops my Savage 17HMR and a 15-22 for before they open...
the skeet throwers will open at 11 with the range and I intend on shooting a couple rounds(or more) on the wobbler when they open...only $3 to shoot a box of shells... pigeons included...
come on out!
Don't forget!since you will be coming in early, you will need to check in at the front gate of the WMA...only paying customers will receive a ticket allowing you to bypass the check in station

So, I'll be getting there at about 8:30. As Pepp stated, anyone coming to shoot with us early, before the range opens must fill out a self clearing permit at the entrance to the WMA.
Gaston, email me for my cell # if you're coming...

I just landed in Gulfport, from coast near Orlando...I wish I could shoot some shite up right now. Helluva long work day.
8:30 is a bit too early. The wife and son won't be off (to work and school) until 8 and if still have to go to Academy to get a license. That'd be pushing 9 and I don't really know the WMA well, though I have been to the range once.
I'm a bit scrambled now, I'm sure this post reflects that. Maybe next time.

I don't plan on getting there until 9

No problem bro. If you change ur mind or just want to come out to check the place out, I'll be out there till 4pm. I'll give you a free pass so you can come back any time the range is open and get in free...
Also, the offer to go out there on a "closed" day still stands. If you ever have a weekday off and want to go just let me know a couple days ahead of time if possible and I'll let you know if I'm off shift from work and I'll gladly go out there with you.

come whenever...(call CD)as long as you get there before 10:30 or so you are still our guest, but I'll be shooting skeet at 11:00
even if you get there after 11 I'll give you a range pass for free admission...

Oh, I read 'shift' as you had to leave and go work a shift somewhere like plant. It opens at 11 to the public? I'll email you when I get home, and ring you if/when I make it out there tomorrow. Probably work some before I go play.
Posted on 1/29/15 at 9:24 pm to Gaston
Yes, range opens to the public tomorrow at 11. That's when my "shift" starts. Email me for my phone # and call/text me when you're on your way. I'll have a free pass waiting for you.

awesome. where is this range? i'd love to make an OB gun-day sometime
Posted on 1/30/15 at 1:55 pm to tiddlesmcdiddles
Awesome time. One of the nicest ranges I've been to. Got to hang out with CD and Pepp for a while. Wasn't crowded at all this morning, but if you're on the fence, definitely check it out. Targets and gongs for everything, and skeet shooting. I did it all.
Found out the CZ shoots the most expensive ammo the best ($0.50/round), and mid-priced Eley almost as well. RWS match was all over the place, and even cheap Thunderbolts shot better than the RWS.
Side note: Don't shoot skeet with Pepperidge. I'm almost positive he drained all of the BB's out of my shells when I wasn't looking

Myself and Pepperidge are Range Officers, yes.
Go to https://www.honeyisland.org for more info. (warning: the website is a little antiquated. except for Pepperidge, myself and a handful of other guys, it's mostly old timers that run this place).
Just some quick info:
$6.00 to get in (covers you for all day).
Kids 16 & under are free.
We supply target holders, staples and have some bench rests if needed. Just bring guns, ammo and paper targets(we have some as well, 2 for $1.00)
If you want to shoot skeet it's an additional $3.00 per 25 round box of shells you bring and wish to shoot.
100 yard rifle line
25 yard pistol and rimfire only line
Shotgun skeet line with 3 going away, 3 coming in and 1 crossing, bouncing rabbit.
Our hours (WE ARE CURRENTLY UNDER WANTED HOURS although the picture says summer. We will transition to summer hours on May 15)
Some pictures:
Pistol line with resettable metal plates
Rifle line with target positions at 25, 50, 75 & 100 yards. (metal gongs at 100yds also)
Shotgun line(3 firing stations)

Look nicer than Lafouche Parish Sheriffs Office Range and cheaper too. They charge me and my 10 YO each $10 to go go shoot. I drive over toTPSOs rangein Houma. It cost $25 for the year. Ill try to make a trip out there. Its about 1 1/2 hours from my house.
Posted on 1/30/15 at 3:11 pm to CHEDBALLZ
Drive faster. Only took me about 35 minutes from Metairie
