Far better gameplay

I felt this way before kids, just more drastic now.

Witcher 1 and 2 somehow both had the flaw that the absolute toughest part of the game was in the first few hours of play.
The pre-patch hellhound from W1 was by far, and I mean by far the hardest boss in the game. I think I killed it with a couple of hp left after numerous attempts.

Second-time parent here. Admittedly, the wife does more of the work with baby #2 this time around. But I still have the wakeup responsibility each day until 3am. We both work, and I'm not a total dick.

I have kids therefore games should skim on dialogue and cutscenes
Nope, just make them pauseable. Skyrim did this well. Save for the beginning, nothing else was really a locked-in cinematic. You could break dialog at anytime and resume without issue, save at any moment in time and be right where you left off.

Wasn't sure how to say it myself but I think you did a good job.

Is there any way you chumps can go one thread without posting something about your kids?
We get it. Congrats on the sex.
Damn.

If developers handled cut scenes better we wouldn't have this issue.

I generally like Bioware games but they are horrible with following every time you kill a rat with a 10 minute unskippable cut scene.
This has irritated me with almost all of their games

Yea that was my problem with origins, the pacing.

Yea, yea, yea, blame it on the developers.

I actually thought DAI was worse in that regard. You could have easily cut half of the forced cinematics from DAI and told the exact same story.

Seems controller focused
Horse makes same sound on different terrains

Liar, you can't wait for this.

Couldn't make it through the first video

Full of shite. You love the witcher.

Barely played the first. Never launched the second one.

I downloaded Witcher 2 off of XBL. I'll get to it in a few years.

The only game truly tested my patience was MGS4 because solid portions of the game are non interactive cutscenes. Other than that, I'm struggling to pull up examples where cutscenes are "too long"
FF8
FF9
FFX
FFX-2
FF12
FF13
FF13-2
Warcraft 3

yup.
My only problem with Witcher is the constant references to book shite.
Unless you read the books, you don't get any of the references.
Gameplay is stout, but DA, ME, and KOTOR all have better stories. BioWare is badass at storytelling. . .but shitty at ending shite.
