Complete nonsense.
DPMS, Bushmaster, RRA, Stag all produce "mil-spec" rifles and all have, at one time or another, have supplied parts for gov't issued rifles. As for the build quality compared with Colt, you must not be aware that Stag's machining branch supplied parts to them to complete contracts or fill orders. Same from RRA and DPMS, so it's entirely possible your prized Colt AR can contain DMPS or Stag-made parts and you are none the wiser. Virtually all AR companies that sell mil-spec stuff are sourcing some or all of their raw forgings from the same few suppliers. That Colt 6920, Spikes, and RRA can all share the same keyhole Cerro Forge marking. Virtually none of the niche AR builders have the resources to forge their own blanks or barrels, they are buying them from someone else. My RRA AR is absolutely as well made or better than most Colt and BCM rifles I've handled.

I know I will probably get bashed by some but I think Colt has seen better days. I bought a 6951 9mm AR last year and it should have never passed QC and left the factory. The barrel nut was loose enough to cause an out of battery charge. There was more thsn enough play in the barrel to cause major issues. The flash hider wasn't even hand tight and their were tool marks all over the lower. Luckily I inspect every gun that I buy before firing it.
Colts solution was to send the gun back and the would get it back to me in 6-8 weeks. Needless to say I will never buy another. They had known issues with the barrel blanks on the 9mm AR's and instead of stopping production and fixinghe issues the sold them and dealt with the issues post sale. Pretty shitty if you ask me.

DPMS (Defense Procurement Manufacturing Services) was founded in 1985 by Randy Luth as a small government contract consulting company. The company served as a precision machine shop manufacturing M-16, M-14 and M203 parts for Army contracts. During this time, Mr. Luth also brokered M-16/AR-15 Mil Spec parts for the commercial markets.

I believe Christensen also uses a 9 twist barrel. Pretty scrappy twist rate for such an expensive piece. Others than that the one I looked was pretty awesome. Have no idea how it shot though. Never got that far because of the twist.

I only consider Colt for any AR purchases.

You know this goes to the lowest bidder right?

LOL - as it should, their all bidding on the exact same part - same material same spec

Is that why colt pimps it so hard.

I've been in the market for an AR10 for a couple months now and have been doing lots of research. It came down to the SCAR 17S and the Black Rain Ordnance PG-15. I decided to go with the BRO, they are a solid USA company and all components of the gun are made by BRO, it is also a pretty sweet looking gun. The review I saw it shot a 3/4" group at 100 yds and an 11" group at 1000 yds. Also during a 2000 round test of Wolf ammo the first malfunction wasn't until 1700 rounds. They also offer a pretty large line of AR15's. Def worth checking out imo. Mine should be here the end of this week, I'll let you know how I like it.

Not getting in a pissing match, if your RRA runs good enough for you, congrats brother. Just offering my advice based on my 20 plus years on the platform.

20 years experience didn't teach you that most of those "commercial" makes manufacture mil-spec parts and have supplied military contacts? Stick to the facts if you are going to claim a hierarchy in who builds a better AR and anything to do with mil-spec.

What did the twist rate have to do with anything? 1/9 will work 45gr to 75gr just fine in 99% of cases. Going 1/8 or 1/7 just shifts that range to the right a little with negligible difference in the most common rounds used.

Because I'm not spending 3k on something that might work. A 9 twist may work with 75 or 77 grain bullets but its not optimal or a given that it will work. Why couldn't they just go with the standard 8 twist or the military standard 7 twist?
Its the same reason I don't shoot a 9 twist 260, it may work or it may not. Why chance it when there are other manufacturers that have obviously taken the hint.

If you think RRA is great, I'm happy for you. No need to be mad about it. You obviously have it all figured it out.

I knew this would turn into a pissing match and that's why I stayed out of it.

As always. Some brands might carry more weight than others but as long as it's milspec it's good enough for me. I'll never be going to battle with my rifle but I don't know how anybody can knock a manufacturer that makes a product reliable enough to be used in combat.

I don't see Double Star Listed on either list.
What says the OB about them?

1/9 is the standard compared to 1/8 for civilian AR's. Why couldn't they? Because they know it works and does so with less fouling and less wear on the barrel. They know you aren't going to be shooting tracer ammo which is why the military has 1/7 twist instead of 1/9 that was originally suggested by the USMC for what would become the A2 version of the M16.
