No reason not to, we have the best 1-2 punch in the league (Martin /Mickey) Quarterman has turned into an elite PG. It seems like Hornsby and Patterson can't miss from 3 most of the time. Calling it now boys, we will make a deeeep run In the NCAAs.

Needed a laugh. Thanks broseph

you do realize LSU made a final four with john brady, right?

If this team had Brady coaching them they would have a better chance at the Elite 8.

The Kentucky game should be played in the Union parking lot.

2 bad losses negates 1 good win. They will not make the tourny if they keep losing to the types of teams they are losing to.

DMitch was all sec
you keep repeating this as if it makes mitch better than hornsby or tq. getting all conference is a VOTE. it's subjective and it's based on comparing mitch to his contemporaries, not tq and hornsby. moreover, it is also based on how mitch fit into his team which is of course different than how tq and hornsby fit into their team.

quote:

2006 was talented enough to make the final four
proving my point. conflating team accomplishments with individual talent. plenty of talented teams get beat by less talented teams that are better coached.

quote:

There are statistics or individual achievements
other than subjective votes, what are they?

quote:

final four team
there's that team argument again

quote:

2006- Davis 1st team all American and sec player of the year.
NO PLAYER ON THIS YEAR'S TEAM WILL COME CLOSE TO THAT.
mickey and martin are 1st and 4th in the league in scoring so yes, they will come close

quote:

Tyrus Thomas was SEC DEFENSIVE PLAYER of the year and a Freshman All American
No player on this year's team will come close to that.
mickey leads the league in blocks so yes, he will come close

quote:

And yes i look at NBA because the NBA drafts on talent.
which is of course flawed because none of the current players have played in the nba.

my observations about your points still stand. you're conflating team accomplishments with individual talent. you're looking at the nba. you're using subjective votes. you're looking at end of the year results.

Mitchell was a much better playmaker and outside shooter than Any guard LSU has right now
absolutely not. and i would take any of lsu's current top 4 guards over him on defense. yes, including josh gray

I love LSU's front court, and the back court is greatly improved, but LSU's back court still needs to be much better for an elite 8 appearance.

But they are going in the right direction.

They may make the elite 8 of the NIT. Because they aren't making the big dance.

J.J. needs to sit Josh Gray down. Quarterman manages the game better.

There aren't enough players to sit anyone.

You have nothing to back your opinion
i have to admit, after looking at it more closely, it was closer than i remember. however, this team is still the better team in terms of individual talent

jerrell martin 5* 6'10"
el robinson 4 71
mickey 4 68
odo 4 610
quarterman 4 66
hornsby 2 64
gray 3 61
patterson 3 60
bridgewater 3 65
epps 3 69

davis 5 69
mitchell 5 67
rolle 5 610
minor 4 511
voogd 3 61
tyrus 3 69
temple 3 65
johnson 3 611
mitchell 3 511
farrer 2 65
lazare 3 68

obviously the list doesn't include malone. not sure how he was rated since he played in australia. but, you have a decent 7 footer off the bench

the only thing that makes it a contest is how lsu got lucky that tyrus exploded. otherwise, this team is even further ahead. the most notable differences are in height and at guard. this team brings the juco national scoring leader off the bench. that team brings in BEN VOOGD.

mickey vs davis would be a good matchup. mickey is the better overall player. davis couldn't even dunk. mickey would have 10 blocks completing a triple double.

martin vs tyrus. no contest. martin can play inside and out, run the floor, etc. tyrus can jump high.

hornsby vs taz. taz would be a big problem for honsby in the paint but hornsby plays much much better outside. interesting matchup.

temple vs tq. tq is clearly the better offensive player and is quite good defensively. i give tq the nod

d mitch vs patterson. wash. patterson is good on defense, can score inside and out, and is taller. YES I SAID IT, TALLER.

bench - BEN VOOGD = 2015 ftw

You state that this team has NO shot at the elite 8/not even make the tourney, yet you go on and on about how much better coached the 06 team was.
when did i say all that?

quote:

Mickey will not be a lotto pick no matter when he comes out.
that doesn't mean he won't end up being the better pro. honestly, it wouldn't take much. tyrus, although hurt, has done basically nothing.

quote:

Mitchell Temple Mitchell Thomas Davis is more talented and versatile then any 5 man line up we can put out there
not seeing it but, make your case. the bench gets even worse for '06.

quote:

Tack Minor and Gray are about the same
gray has a much, much higher ceiling

quote:

06 team would destroy this one down low.
glen davis couldn't even dunk and you think he's going to destroy mickey? tyrus vs martin? martin is all over that.

quote:

Plus that 2006 team was as or more talented then this one was

I would take Mickey over Big Baby, Tyrus over Martin, Taz way over Hornsby, Temple way over TQ, and Mitchell way over Patterson

Maybe this years players have more talent and potential, but that final 4 team played so well together...this team isn't there yet, and its not that close

defense. his offense was painful to watch.

jones lets the players run and gun more. brady had an incredible half court defense and a shot blocker that burst on to the scene and they peaked at the right time. i don't think jones' style is going to get deep into the tourney against teams like wisky, etc. i hope i'm wrong.
