I bet you just shocked the hell out of that guy. People forget the huge differences in elevation in this state and how easy it is to drive a couple hours north of Scottsdale and have several feet of snow.

You in Flagstaff?

Yep, and if I ever get tired of the cold, I can just drive down to Phoenix.

Yea, some of the largest elevation difference in the country outside of Alaska , New Mexico, and California (due to Death Valley)

Ok OP....also be sure to check out Loco Patron next door. Food is good and cheap as well.

Yes, I am slightly fond of that place!

ou been to Union Barrelhouse yet? B went with coworkers last week and one of them wrote a really bad yelp review on it. Basically they were there for almost 2 hours because their order was forgotten...then when they got their food it tasted horrible(fries burnt badly). It took forever to get drink refills. And not once during all that did any of the staff even apologize for the wait. Not the waitress, manager didn't come over and apologize or offer to comp anything, nothing.

Never been there, I don't think I have even heard of it. Where is it?

And whenever we want to bring our dogs to play in the snow...we drive up to Flag

Seriously...we love Flagstaff. Go up there several times throughout the year. I know my husband would love to live there if he could. I love it there...but don't think I could deal with the cold so much. It's fun for like a day or two...then I'm ready to head back to Scottsdale and put on short sleeves.

Their downtown area is really cool though(Flagstaff), very dog friendly and the people there just so nice.

Where the old Salty's was. It looks really cool appearance wise...just sucks food and service wise. Has a bunch of different beers there from what B told me.

Yea, people bring their dogs everywhere around here, and everyone I meet is so nice. Makes meeting new people at work really enjoyable

For dining check out either of the Oregano's in Scottsdale- one close to Old Town and the other is on the SE corner of Scottsdale Rd. & Shea Blvd.

Friday night I highly recommend checking out The Buffalo Chip in Cave Creek (north of Scottsdale) for the live bull-riding. Very cool place with a mixed crowd (bikers, cowboys, families, tourists and lots of women) and great place to people-watch. They always have great live music inside and the bull-riding is outside with bonfires across the property. Just a very cool atmosphere. Took a college buddy and his father there the Friday after New Years' and they raved about the place. Decent food, too. Cave Creek is a cool little town.

My husband mountain bikes so he LOVES that area. Usually will do a ride from Flag to Sedona at least once a year. We usually go camping there at least once a year as well.

For our Flag snowdays we usually go to this trailhead off Hwy 180(it's FR 164B...it's right after the Summit Fire station on the right). Perfect place for people driving in for a snowday to go play in the snow with their dogs. Always surprised we don't see more people there honestly. You don't have to pay an entrance fee like that giant play area people go to and you can just walk the trail into the woods (I've seen people cross country skiing and I've seen snowmobile tracks on that trail).

It's good for lunch or a dinner that is like $10 a person.

Really?

I really wanted to catch that damn blazers game.

Thanks for the advice. Posting from my truck right now but the hiking seems interesting.

Any gyms I would be able to visit for a few days that you know of?

That sounds awesome. I'll have to look into that.

Nice. I was looking for a place like this. Thanks
