What I've seen from this team, over the past two weeks has been nothing short of impressive. They've done a 180 degree turn in terms of their DEFENSE and just how HARD they play. Again, our guards are as good as any in the SEC and our post players are just giving support. We know we're thin in the post but it doesn't appear to be an excuse the coaching staff is going to let the girls lean on. I like what I've seen in this first half........
LSU 43
UK 38
Over the past week we've played the #9 ranked team close on the road, defeated the #12 ranked team on the road, and now lead the #10 ranked team at home. I hope the ladies can keep up this pace and, more importantly, I hope they can continue to play this hard on the defensive end. Ballard and Moncrief have been everything we thought they could be at the beginning of the season. Each are in double figures at the half.

Amazing how Moncrief looks now when she is playing with Ballard. They are pretty fun to watch now

It is amazing what the addition of Ballard has done to this team. I just hope Ballard understands how critical she is to this team and how vital her presence is on the floor.

I am getting so sick of seeing Rina Hill, I don't see what she brings. She constantly turns the ball over, misses easy shots, no awareness

Nice finger roll by Jasmine Rhodes!!!
Lady Tigers up by ten with five minutes to go.

Serve me a huge bowl of crow. Caldwell deserves criticism for not being able to bring in talent, but she's certainly making the most with what she has

They're playing really well. I know they dug themselves a massive hole but what would it take for them to make a run at getting in the tournament?

Inbounding still sucks.

Final: LSU beats #10 UK 84-79

They would need at least 10 conference wins just to get a sniff for now.

Wow.... two Top 15 wins this week and should have defeated #9 A&M. No matter how you feel about Caldwell, she has done a tremendous job coaching these ladies up as of late.

I think a win vs Tennessee could be a season changer. Would do so much for us.

What an outstanding effort by Nikki Caldwell and her team today. Easily the biggest win of the season thus far.................and with our leading scorer not playing in the second half.
Where to start........?
Clearly Ballard, with 25 pts and 5 ast and 5 stls, showed why she was a preseason ALL SEC selection. UK had no answer for her.
Sheila Boykin, with 14 pts 11 reb...............as the lone senior, I love how she's playing. She's not an all SEC player but, she's defintely doing the little things and playing tough defense on the interior that this team DESPERATELY needs. Considering all that she's been through while here at LSU, I love seeing her contributing so much to this team.
Moncrief, looked great today on defense and the offensive end with 15 pts. Her ability to create off the dribble..........and now hitting her jump shots............gives us possibly the best 1-2 (and with Harden a 1-2-3 punch) punch at guard in the SEC.
I also liked what I saw from Jasmine Rhodes, Rina Hill and Jenna Deemer. They all are starting to look more comfortable as the season continues.
Now, I don't expect us to beat Tennessee on Thursday. However, every other game on the schedule is now winnable. We're 4-2 in conference and, with the way we're playing, I don't think a record anywhere from 11-5 to 9-7 is out of the question. Nikki is going to have to add a top notch recruiter to this staff. Once she does, with how hard her team plays and the style of defense, the sky will indeed be the limit in the coming years.

The woman can coach, as I have always said, and I honestly hope I'm wrong about where program is and is headed, but great win and real shot at NCAAs, from where we were a few weeks ago to today, congrats to coach, players etc. and fun game to watch, great win....
