Why does Ed Orgeron have the reputation as a great recruiter? Why wasn't Chavis seen in the same light for example?

Likability, knows what buttons to push to get kids to commit, a great salesman, makes the parents feel like the kid will be taken care of

Or just pay the parents and kid

Chavis didn't put in the effort.

Good recruiters are likable guys who can get players and players parents to trust them. They also put in the effort, obviously.

O's reputation is he's relentless just like Saban.

Calls and checks with recruits every day. Goes to their games, talks to their parents, etc.

We lost some recruits in N. La because of one particular coach not doing this shite.

Recruits especially 18 year olds want to feel important. Ed makes them feel this way by giving them what they want: Attention.

Chavis was a bum who sat on his fat arse and didn't want to travel. He knew X's and O's, that's the difference.

He stayed in the press box and avoided human contact, that should tell you a lot.

The key to recruiting is sincerity....

And when you can fake that, you've got it!
