How is there even a debate? Under NFL rules, it's not a catch. No grey area.

Yes. It was a football move not an act of catching that he was doing diving to the endzone.

No the ball popped out of his hands when he hit the ground

He didn't complete the act of the catch. It's a pretty cut and dry rule. The ground caused the ball to pop free and he re caught it. At the point it hit the ground and went airborne it was not a catch.
