I'm finally upgrading to a smartphone this week, and can't decide. Reviews I've been reading/watching say it is a tie, and mostly due to preference.

What is the battery like on the G3? I've seen claims as low as 2 hours and as high as 8.5. I won't be doing a lot of gaming ( I have a PS3 for that). Just calling, texting and occasional Youtube usage/Viewing TD.

S5 has deal with ATT where you get Netflix free for a year. Is the different in price (~$19 monthly for the G3 and ~$22 for the S5) worth it? I'm not a tech guy, and the G3 does seem less complex in vids I've seen.

Researching these smartphones is such a pain

The S5 is, without question, the best phone on the market.

It freezes at the best times. It's always keeping me on my feet. I never know when I can use it! Lol

The build quality is second to none. I love the character dents it gets when I hit it on a pillow or fluffy cloud.

Don't want the cover on that USB/charger port? Don't worry! Chances are it will come off on its own.

I hope my review helps.

Are these 2 your only options?

The moto X 2014, nexus 6, LG G3 and Note 4 are the 4 you should look at. The S5 shouldn't even be in the discussion

Too bad you can't wait until March. The new Asus Zenfone 2 is coming out then and it's $199 with no contract and is fully unlocked. Looks like a good phone and has good specs.

quote:

The ZenFone 2 has a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS display, 64-bit 2.3GHz Super quad-core Intel Atom Processor, 2GB/4GB, 13-megapixel camera, 5-megapixel front-facing camera, dual SIM support, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, 4G LTE speeds of up to 150Mbit/s. 3,000mAh battery and fast-charging technology (60% charge in just 39 minutes) and Android 5.0 Lollipop with Asus ZenUI user interface on top of it..

The ZenFone 2 will be launched in March with prices starting at $199 for the 2GB for RAM version. The 4GB model will likely be more expensive, although a price for the model is not available yet.

Definitely go with the G3. Battery life is great. I just went 32 hours with out charging, which included several phone calls and other general use.

Get the G3 if that's your on,y choices. I'd tell you to get the Note 4 if any choice. I got the Note 4 Edge and it's awesome.

LG G3!

My wife and I did the Android experiment and I had the G3. She had the S5. She eventually got tired of hers. The G3 was awesome for me though. I liked everything it was all about. I still double tap my iPhone screen to unlock it.

I have the G3 my wife has the S5. I got her the S5 because I like its camera better and that is what she wanted to get a new phone for. The G3 interface is by far superior to the touchwiz. But you can change the launcher on the S5 too. S5 does seem to hang pretty easy. Overall phone G3 wins easily.
