Currently wearing Brooks Glycerin but lately the arch in one foot has been bothering me .. I know everyone is different but I did try these as well as many others on today in a lrs and I'm more curious as to how they have held up.
Thanks.
Thanks.

stop in LRC in midcity. The will size your foot and get you in the right pair. These guys know shoes. I run in Brooks as well, but flat footed like a mofo.
edit:::midcity nola, if you are in the area.

1. Woman
2. Not in Baton Rouge/NOLA
3. Asics did NOT fit my feet right ... I TRIED hard to like them but my feet just weren't comfortable at all.
Yeah, I'm dealing with the same store I always have and am happy with them.

Well, you need to get your landing examined. I'm sure there is a place up there with a machine that performs this for customers? Perhaps call Louisiana Running company in NOLA and ask if they have a recommendation for the laffy area.
It could help. You could also try an insert, but I wouldn't do that unless you speak with someone knowledgeable enough..

I'm more of a mid to heel strike and was just today talking with them about that. I've read many places that you run how you run and perhaps it shouldn't even be messed with.
Other than 2 torn meniscus that were recently cleaned out (1 from running I think and the other as old as 18+ years but didn't know it) I've got NO issues. No calf/Achilles/shin splints/itb issues at all.
I might not be as EFFICIENT or as fast a runner as I could be but I'm more interested in just getting it done and enjoying it.

No offense, but if you don't aspire to be an elite runner you seem over involved. Comfort and longevity is your goal.

wholly yeezus...and you're still running? Good for you!
G'luck with the shoes, you'll find something. My foot seems to change every 2 or so years. I just phased back into Brooks from Mizuno last year.

One was cleaned out in October ... the one that had cysts that no one ever believed "something" was wrong until a kind sports chiro actually listened to me and ordered an MRI. Yep, meniscus tear that had been there for more than likely 18+ years as it had been hurting off and on for no reason (I wasn't a runner at the time ... only started that almost 3 years ago when my kids were older).
The other one was cleaned out in December. I knew it was torn for about 18 months but 2 docs told me it would need to be cleaned out but when was up to me and my knee. I did OK for a long while but once I got to the point where I just couldn't run pain free, I knew it was time PLUS my deductible had been met already.
Dr. Perry did both (played football for LSU) and he said there is no reason for me to not continue to run. I'm not a high mileage runner but do enjoy it and my family REALLY dislikes when I can't run! lol It's therapy for me.
And yes, I'll find something ... just waiting to buy when I'm released from PT so I can get the full 30 days of trial with them.

I'd like to try brooks but I've loved asics since I switched from Nike and just haven't strayed from them.

I've never heard of those but you really need to have your feet and running examined by a pro. I always thought that was some hogwash to sell shoes. Until I upped my mileage from the occasional 2-3 mile runs a few times a week to the 5-6 mile runs. In a pair of Saucony shoes that were comfy at first but were more minimal shoes. I started having Achilles issues. Had to take like 4-6 weeks off when I was training for a half. I am a moderate over pronator and need cushion/support and once I switched to some Brooks Adrenaline shoes the Achilles problems disappeared.

Asics are good if you don't like a responsive shoe.

i have run in 6-8 different brands of shoes from minimalist, zero-drop heels to maximalist super-cushioned stuff. none of them have caused injuries. you want to run pain free? follow these rules:
1. stop being fat
2. slow down fattie, you need a solid base before you do anything like a tempo or interval run
3. see rules 1 and 2

I sort of disagree. I will say that no one ever got hurt BECAUSE they ran in a neutral shoe. Now someone needing a neutral shoe and running in a heavy motion controlled shoe, could be a little different. But more and more studies are finding there's just not a lot of evidence to back up the "fact" that you need a stability or motion control or whatever shoe.

Brooks Ghost have always been great for me. Actually about to pick up a new pair

I'm not fat ... 5'5" and 120# ... don't assume things man.
I've got the base ... why assume I don't?
And I don't think I said I've been hurt from running in certain shoes ... ??? My Glycerines are just starting to feel funny in the arch but my arch doesn't HURT.

If you run fast you will not be pain free. Comes with the territory. I am an old broke down runner but I refuse to slow down. I would rather get in 2 fast runs a week than jog 7 minute miles 5 times a week.
