Both big mobile guys, strong arms, coached by Jimbo Fisher with maturity issues coming out of college. I say he'll be better than Russell but not as good as Cam (playoff game winner.)

Mel Kiper said he'd take Winston #1 overall, but he also said Jamarcus Russell would be a top 5 QB and "John Elway-like" so...

What say you?

I'll say sure, why not, even if only based on how low the bar is set.

Russell really wasn't all that mobile. Flynn was more mobile.

No surprise that Mel Kiper is wrong about what he said. After all, this dude is wrong 99% of the time.

That being said, Winston will not only be better than JR, but he will have a much longer career as a backup.

He's gonna have a rude awakening if he thinks he can yell at his NFL coaches and teammates like he did in college. I see him getting into a fight his rookie year.

I've never considered comparing the two. Russell is my favorite college football player of all-time. I bought his jersey the day after he led the comeback against Oregon State in the 2004 opener. I cried tears of joy after he lept across the goal line.

But I remember hearing that Jimbo was pissed at JR the end of the year, and he didn't even want him to travel with the team to the Capital One Bowl. Flynn came in behind Randall, which gave that rumor some credit. Then JR came in and led an awesome comeback that a lot of people forget because of the Hail Mary by Iowa.

My point is that Jimbo has been easier on Winston through what seems to be worse stuff, so I am assuming he sees more in him. I could obviously be way off base here though.

Basically the question here is if Winston can stay out of prison.

EJ Manuel had a better career than Offthemarcus and he got benched for Kyle Orton this year.

If he were to be drafted, serve as a backup his entire career and never play, then yes, he would be better.

Without a doubt, though that's an extremely low bar set right there.

All I've ever heard from his teammates is that they love playing beside him. That's one area I don't think he'll have trouble with. He's charismatic, at least with fellow football players.

Yeah. Jamarcus had more talent, but Winston has already surpassed JR's mastery of his skill if that makes sense.
