Come back from the DC ledge for a moment Nega and Posi Tigers

Look. I think everyone in here knows I'm not fan of many things Miles. I mean, look at my sig quote.
But, all of this "will negatigers this" or "will positigers" this if so and so is hired is a bit silly.
I mean look. Yes, I have preferred candidates and ones I'd rather not see. But, I'm actually much more interested in something other than the specific person hired. I'll be interested to see what said person gets paid.
I say that because THAT is the only REAL solid data we will learn from this hire. We'll learn if we stayed competitive pay wise or, if for some reason, Alleva pulled back on the purse strings. Then, we can all guess about why he may or may not have done that.
As for the specific hire. I'll probably have an opinion but I'm waiting to see the guy's results as a Tiger coach first. CP could get hired and then we get run over. Stoops could get hired and field a great Tiger defense. Sure, I have an opinion as to who will do better, but melting over what MAY happen absent any real evidence is silly.
Oh, but I can guess that some of you said "but we HAVE evidence" regarding some of these guys and I agree with you TO A POINT. But, I also recall when Saban was hired at LSU. The LSU boards at the time were NOT all that happy with his hire. Sure, some were, but trust me, there was a healthy dose of melt too.
I recall when Chavis was hired. Same thing. People were NOT happy. Now sure, Chavis had some limitations but let's not lose our minds. About 100 D1 schools would shite star shaped frisbees if they could have the overall defensive results we had under Chavis.
So go on record if you end up loving the hire or disliking the hire. But, for chrissakes, until we see what the hire does with LSU talent in the coming year, we should slow our roll just a wee bit.
And again, I don't think anyone in here is going to confuse me with a Pumper. If Miles screws this up, I won't be stunned but frankly, other than Malveto, his record on that side of the ball really ain't bad.

Yes, we shouldn't get too worked up over that which we have no control.

Don't forget recruiting implications. CP/O combination is best for recruiting.

Look, give an OK dc our talent level, and he becomes a much better dc.
Stoops or whoever could do the same after leaving a less talented program.
Also, why in the frick can Ed O work for only the Pender guy? Why can't he recruit and work for someone like stoops or anyone else?

You are trying to inject sanity and reason into this mob of hysterical little girls?
A noble effort sir but doomed to failure.

You guys can thank my wife for that phrase. I've no idea where the hell she came up with it but I've heard it for 10 years.

Wow! A serious post onTD, good thing we celebrate the Epiphany today, so let's all take a deep breath and wait till tomorrow or whenever the new DC gets hired and the fat lady has sung, then all the madness can start again
