The Opportunity@ LSU for D tackles, D ends and LB's is there for the taking.

We have one DE committed.
We have ZERO Defensive tackles committed.
We have ZERO linebackers committed.
There is need for immediate contribution at all three positions. The opportunity is there. The playing time is there for the taking. Just look at the depth chart and the list of 2015 commitments.
LSU has a nearly unrivaled track record of preparing defensive players for the NFL. After these games are wrapped up, it's time to spread that recruiting net as wide as possible and show these kids what LSU has to offer .
I would not be surprised if a few talented and opportunistic young kids at these positions see the wide-open opportunity that exists on the Defensive side of the ball, and suddenly get in the mix in the next couple of weeks. It's time to get two or three difference makers, and the excitement created by our new coaching hires may create that momentum. Who will our last-minute Sam Montgomery/Travonte Valentine be this year?

Arden Key or Jackson.
Won't know until We have some clarity with our defensive staff.

Teams like tenn and auburn and miss st are getting better prospects at those positions than us

There are STILL uncommitted guys and "soft" verbal commitment guys out there that could fall our way with a little luck. I think that this board is a bit distracted by all the bright, shiny skill guys still out there, instead of focusing on the spots left and the need to get 3/4 guys on the Defensive front seven. A quick review of our depth chart has me really confused about these three positions.

This board has been all about DEs and LBs and Daylon Mack. Where have you been?

Just goes to show how bad recruiting had gotten on the defensive side of the ball.
Chavis doesn't recruit at all.
Brick Haley can never close.
We need defensive coaches that can recruit. I know that we were in line for Mack and Phillips and possibly Leo Lewis. That would have been great if we had gotten all 3. But, as we have seen in previous years, getting those guys is not at all guaranteed. We finished second A LOT.

Here same as you. All this speculation about Dillon and Charlot and every cb in America.

I honestly do not understand how we are not either recruiting or not in high consideration for top DL guys every year. If I can find out who they are, then it's not that hard.
I want Christian Wilkins. Sure maybe too late in the process now. Again don't understand the tardiness with recruiting these guys.

We need 1 more DE and 1 or 2 lbs badly. We will be fine at dt after next class.

Couldn't agree more. Based on these AS games, I'd add that Dillon & Charlot are must gets and I hope CC/Henry/Wilson will get it done.
If we get BeBe I'll feel much more confident in how this class will finish. If we delay this hire, I'm not sure who, has the ability to flip or lock down the elite kids. Wilson builds strong relationships and we usually know who he is on from start to finish. I'm not sure he is the impact recruiter that flips kids in a short timeframe. The other guys on staff do a good job of finishing 2nd on a consistent basis.

Wow, so you have only been here today?
We've been talking about Mack, Phillips, Key, Lewis, for this week and prior. We've been talking about the need for LBs and DEs a lot.
Dillon and Jackson were playing today, two guys that could be ours when it's all said and done. I mean damn, can they get some love at least for today?

That obstinate guy that likes to argue for the sake of arguing. So tiresome.

Some times the players that are interested in your team are not the positions you need. If a bunch of talented WR's and DB's are interested in LSU this year, should our coaches just say nah, because its not a high position of need? Next year there are plenty of DL's and LB's from Louisiana that I am sure LSU will be after.

Yes. I understand that. But I can PROMISE you that this coaching staff wanted more than 1 or two DE, DT and LB. So I would not be surprised if in the next week or so we hear some names we haven't really considered as being possibilities at LSU. That's all.

For LB's we have:
MLB - Beckwith, Garret. Garret will challenge Beckwith for the spot as a starter. Either way they both get time at MLB, but after that sloppy play vs. ND in the Bowl game, the middle was always open. As the MLB you either have to plug the middle of be able to call help before the play is snapped.
OLB - Debo(Deion Jones) and Lamar Louis will probably start, but in the rotation we have lots of great LB's ready to roll. Ronnie Feist, Duke Riley, Donnie Alexander, and we do have Melvin Jones the FB, but originally played LB. We will pick up a couple LB's.
DE - Danielle Hunter, Sione Teuhema(Beast), Tashan(Beast) Bower, Deondre Clark(Beast), and Lewis Neal. We also have M.J. Patterson who did play some LB this season.
DT - we have too many to count.

However I agree 1 DT, 1 LB, and 1 DE would round this class out nice. And Les always has something up his sleeve. See how he flipped the brother Teuhema's from Texas last year. So we got Sione the DE last year and we get his younger but bigger brother for OL for 2015.

I like how this point is made about so few commits at DT , DE and LB for the 2015 group and I interpret this post as meaning the staff should emphasize better chances of early playing time at those positions.
Yes we have seen lots of posts about Lewis, Mack, etc.

The depth means almost nothing to me, it should mean little to you too. We need DT, DE and maybe a hybrid type if the new DC runs a different system.
In addition, none this year will mean a gap in age and with the way those JRs come out, I don't want to then be left with true SO as the starters.
In my mind there is I excuse we shouldn't be recruiting the best DT and DE every single year.

Yes we should offer Christian Wilkins! Even though he's from CT...he is uncommitted. I know we don't recruit guys from up there, but we have nothing to lose! I mean it doesn't look like we're gonna reel in Mack. And boy...he sure looked good in that all-star game! It should mean something to him that we have ZERO DT committed in this class. And he's gotta know how LSU puts guys in the league.
