All of you who are angry at Alleva...

are angry because he's being fiscally responsible.
there is no way any school SHOULD pay guarantee a 60 year old DC head coach type money to potentially NOT coach. Nor should they hamstring a potential new HC hire from hiring his own people.
especially when they've given said coach raises of around $1 million dollars.

I don't like alleva but this is not the reason. Chavis is an assistant wanting HC guarantees. Real bitch move going to aggies

Alleva acts like LSU is hurting for money
Posted on 12/31/14 at 12:46 pm to IPlayedGreatTonight
$1.7 million is not head coach type money anymore. Not in the SEC, anyway.

irrelevant.
you want us to either guarantee Chavis a job or a financial windfall. why the frick should we do that? he's never shown any sort of ambition beyond being a DC and would've coached at Tennessee for 1000 years. now we should either force our future new HC to keep him or else pay him to sit at home?
frick that.
i'm sure the extra $400k helped, but this is about the guaranteed money.

Total horeshit. The money being discussed for a DC is not haed coach type money.

he'd obviously get paid the remainder of his contract in a lump sum if Miles is gone. so you want him to potentially get paid $3.5 million to sit at home?
frick all of that.

Because he had no problem doing it for miles?

1. Buyouts get negotiated down all the time. It's the nature of the game.
2. Odds are pretty good that when Miles left, somebody would snap him up anyway. Voila...no buyout.

It's funny that you equate coordinator and head coaching monetary decisions.

Reports are it's not about the money. It's rather that the contract they gave him sucked. Chavis wanted to come back to LSU, but apparently the contract was so bad that he was willing to leave over it. That is ALL on Alleva.
FIRE HIM.
FIRE HIM.

Alleva had NOTHING to do with this, he was standing by with checkbook in hand. This was an old fashioned dick measuring contest and had nothing to do with the AD.

I knew he was a pussy when he apologized to Saban.
Posted on 12/31/14 at 12:59 pm to IPlayedGreatTonight
He wasn't "financially responsible" when Miles "flirted" with Arkansas. Hell he gave away the farm. But now he becomes financially responsible when it comes to the best coach on our staff leaving. It was not about more money it was about guaranteed money.

It's funny that you think its ok to guarantee $15-20 million dollars, to someone even if they're not an employee, but not $2-3 million dollars.

I know some of you fans don't like Chavis because of prevent D and last night but lets look at what Chavis did for this team.
Scoring
2008 26 PPG :yak:
2009 16 PPG
2010 17.8 PPG
2011 10.5 PPG
2012 17 ppg
2013 22.7 ppg
2014 16.4 ppg
with the exception of 2013 we had a very good defense every year. Once we had probably the best D in the country in 2011. This is only based on PPG. The fact that he is now going to your division rival, when he loved it here, is a serious problem.
Who ever replaces him will be a serious downgrade, and it will hurt this program for years to come. I was confident about our team next year. QB play would be the big ? again, but our D would be tops in the country, and we would have a Hiesman caliber running back. Now we could use some of our best recruits coming in this year, and another potential great class could be ruined. If our DC replacement isn't great we could fall into oblivion.
If our defense which has been the strongest aspect of our football team since Chavis has come, falls apart. Alleva deserves all the blame.
I'm usually calm and don't use strong language on this place. But F U Alleva, you could cause the downfall of our team because you suck at contract negotiation.

They already guaranteed him that type of money to potentially NOT coach...he just wanted the guarantee for longer than what LSU offered.

yeah we know.
the contract said that if a change was made at HC we only had to pay Chavis for 6 months after the change was made.
Chavis wanted us to either keep him on staff for the duration of the contract or pay him he rest of the contract to not coach for LSU.
and this is LSU's fault?

Was it not the same contract that he's signed multiple times during his tenure here?
This was about money.

yes it is LSUs fault. You give a guy a contract, who wants to sign an extension, and it is so bad that he is willing to leave over it.
