If I've had an iPhone 4s for 2.5 years, (on 2 yr contract) about how much would a new iPhone 5s cost me @ cspire?

Call them. They can tell you that stuff over the phone.

Holy crap. Why would you go on TD and ask this in lieu of calling your cell phone company?
Isn't there a rule about not starting a thread for every thought that pops into your head?

They told me $599.00. Thought they might be trying to rip me off. He said the best thing was through some finance 24.99 a month for 2 years plus 87 or something for my plan.
Just seems like too much.

That's buying the phone with no contract, more than likely. You'd be better off buying one used online if you go that route.

I see... I was just expecting it to be a lot cheaper considering I have had this one since June of 12'.
Thanks.
Thanks.

A brand new iPhone 5S costs $599.
$24.99 X 24 months = $599.
They're not ripping you off, although the I don't know the particulars of your plan to say whether the $87 is a ripoff.

Idk what cspire is but that sounds like the AT&T Next plan. You have the option to do the 2 year agreement or buy the phone in monthly installments. However, the rules changed with the 2 year agreement a few months ago.. If you choose that option, your service charge for your data plan is much more expensive than in the past (and than the monthly installment plan).
Basically, they're going to get your money either way you choose. The days of not paying full retail for a new iPhone are essentially over.

In reality, we've always paid full retail for phones (and often more than full retail). This fact was just hidden from us by the way the carriers structured cell phone plans.
The only thing that is different now is that there is more transparency so we know exactly what we are paying for.

5c is free and 5s (16g) is $99 with a 2 year contact @ cspire

Never mind, thought you wanted the 6.

But how does a 5 cost more than a 6? I paid $299 for the six a couple of days ago. Still have my 5, haven't decided what to do with it.

Because you paid the contract price which will cause your bill to be higher to make up the difference

My plan stayed the same. I don't see any changes on my online bill.

Yeah, but you can get a 25 dollar discount if you pay for the phone through the next plan or pay upfront
You have to compare the two options to see what works best for you
It's typically close to a wash

Your data plan is much more expensive than his would be if he bought the 5 at retail. You're still paying for it.
