I was given a car with a V8 as my first when i was in highschool. Made good grades, Played sports, parents trusted me blah blah blah....
I raced that bitch and did stupid shite all the time. What i learned from it?
When i have kids their first cars will be normal cars. Not junkers not a POS but nothing special. But let them get the stupid out of their system in a safer car that they arent gonna kill themselves in.
after about 5 years in that car my parents bought me a GT Covertable Mustand while i was in college and i had matured on the road and took PERFECT care of it. Care that i would not have taken if it was my first car.
Sorry but nothing good can come from you giving your son a 911... And if he is so trustworthy and all as you claim why dont you trust him to drive safe?
And my thoughts have nothing to do with how much money you make, the lifestlye you live or anything like that. Its just what i think is common sense and my own personal experience

GPS Insight is what you want. Works great.

I like snakes and own a 911 so I feel qualified to tell you that giving your kid a 911 is a risky proposition.
Get his arse a Tahoe, it's FAF and easy to bang a chick in the back, plus he can ram everything (light poles, other drivers) in the city and be safer than a mustang or 911.

I say get him the GT if he wants it...
Or if he wants his kid safe but he deserves something nice then get him the new Toyota Land Cruiser. shite is a panty dropper that the GT wished it could be...
You're a great parent 911, you raised a great kid. Don't listen to the haters that are jelous of what you're able to gift your hard working child.

911, don't listen to these hater or your wife.... Get the kid the GT off the bat and go ahead and just put the gps on it for a set time. Say 6-8 months. And monitor it. If you see nothing wrong and he has gotten use to the car and you are satisfied then remove it... Also take him out every now and then with you and let him get down on it just to get it out of his system. No reason to get the 4 and then a year down the road want the GT. Grats on the good kid
It's good to know there is at least one other intelligent person with a true OT Baller attitude left on this pussyass board.
The haves will never be understood by the have-nots. Buncha brokeass pansies up in here.

with the money and resources you have at your disposal, one would think you could get all this answered without coming to a message board just so you can talk about being a dentist and having a 911. do rich people not know about google?

It's more about speed. I'm buying him a new Mustang, and the wife is making him get the 4 cyl. turbo instead of the GT because of the speed factor. If he demonstrates that he can keep his speed under control, I'll upgrade him to a GT or give him my 911 when I get a new Porsche next year.
SOOOOO much fail in this post.
Worried that he will speed with a quick car..so lets give him one that is twice as fast , or one three times more valuable.
You fricking suck.

Are you into Scientology ? I know a lot of dentists are into it.

No, just an atheist. I don't know a single dentist into Scientology - just some into Amway.

quote:The kid in the v6 or 4 cyl mustang knows their car is slow and therefore won't race. The kids with GT's think they are the fastest cars on Gods green earth and will race ANYTHING. Either way though you should get your kid a truck or a Tahoe. I was a good kid in high school and I somehow convinced my parents that my dads M3 was a suitable car for me. I drove that car like an a-hole. I raced everyone and eventually totaled it before graduation. I got a truck after that and I've been smooth sailing ever since. It doesn't matter who your kid is, if you put him in a fast car he WILL run the wheels off of it. It's just a fact of life.
I think a kid with a 4 cyl.. turbo Mustang is more likely to race than a kid with a GT. The 4 cyl. has something to prove - everyone knows they'll get smoked by the GT.

Got my first sports car at 19 and never got a ticket. Plenty of close calls though. You should get him a radar detector instead.

Pretty good read here, can't let this fall to page 2

FWIW, the 4cyl Ecoboost is 300hp/300tq and pretty still damn fast and can easily be modded to more power than a stock GT. Get him the v6 if you want the slowest mustang. Then again the modern traction and stability controls make 400hp cars safer than 200 hp cars 15 yrs ago.

Or people with common sense but call them what you will.
My daughter got a used Jetta for her first car. My son got a 2 door Jeep. Both manual transmission. I could have purchased whatever I wanted for them but I chose sensible and safe.
What you want to do for your son appears to be more about you and your showing off than doing what is practical for the situation. Do what you want but don't try to justify it with bullshite excuses.
