For the people that just go to Church on Christmas or Easter, please explain why

Not judging but I don't see what the point is. Yes I have gone extended stretches of poor church attendance. During those times I didnt see why I should just show up as an appearance for those holidays. Just trying to understand it.

I'm busy unwrapping my presents, or drinking heavily.
There's little or no time for church these days with the number of parties people go to.

It feels like a more important mass. I think a lot of people, like me, feel guilty for rarely going to mass so try to at least make the 2 most important holy days of obligation.

My wife asks me to go with her twice a year.

because society is full of sheep who attempt to fit in with others to make themselves feel better about their miserable lives

The most common explanation is that (religious) extended families go as a group.
Usually Aunt Mabel may be going to her regular church in Tulsa or wherever but if she's in town visiting you for Christmas, she'll be going to your church.
And yeah, more people tend to hit that and Easter because it seemed more important, like someone upthread noted.

Whether you think it's hypocritical or just not right, going to church two times out of the year is better than going no times out of the year. Maybe someone will get into a habit of going after the one time that year.

It makes the old lady feel better that I make an attempt to show up a few times a year. And she tells me weddings don't count.

If you go to church at least once or twice a year (Easter & Christmas only) then Jesus will allow me to accept him as my savior and that is enough to buy my way into heaven I believe. If I sin a little throughout the year, it's ok. I say a couple Hail Marys on Xmas day, and all is good.
These are only my beliefs. Hope I am right. See y'all in heaven with our Heavenly Father waiting at the pearly gates

Why drive around and see Christmas lights in December? Why shoot fireworks off in July? Do you shoot them off any other time of the year?
For a lot of people going to a Christmas service is part of Christmas itself, a part of the festivities. Why do you care?

Going to church doesn't make you a Christian just like being on a farm doesn't make you a cow.

Sadly, some people think going to church once or twice a year will get them to heaven. some people think going to church every sunday will get them to heaven. Some people hear the way to salvation every sunday, yet they don't have a clue what it is or means.
Some believers go on those days because of tradition, which is fine, but meaningless.

I used to be forced to go when I lived at home. I don't recall going sense I turned 18 (last I lived at home). The only exception was when i got married because my wife's parents refused to have it anywhere else, but I got the girl.

Why do more people go see LSU vs Bama than say, North Texas State?
Same logic.
Same logic.

Many go because family wants them to go with them. Maybe something the pastor says during those few times will stick with them and they go from just going to pleasing family twice a year to going on a regular basis because they want to praise and worship God and have fellowship with others that feel the same way.
